The core functionality of the Windows operating system is implemented in a modular way. It places a variety of related functions in the same DLL module. Therefore, each application invokes the associated system or user-defined DLL. Therefore, when you write a program, you must know how to view and debug the DLL. 1.1 Viewing DLL interfaces using the Depends tool

VC 6.0 provides a tool for viewing DLL interfaces--depends. The call method is to select Start | All Programs "|" Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 "|" Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Tools "|" Depends "command to open the Depends tool. To view the DLL interface, select "File" | " Open command to select the DLL file to view, the DLL called by the DLL and the interfaces it provides are displayed in the interface, as shown in Figure 22-14.

In Figure 22-14, the interface for the DLL created in 22.3 is shown. A left-hand tree view that shows a list of all the other DLLs called by the DLL. The right-hand list section shows the interface functions provided by the DLL that is viewed. The list view at the bottom shows the information for the called DLL module. In the left tree view, select the appropriate DLL, and in the right-hand list section, a list of corresponding interface functions is displayed. Where the ordinal column represents the ordinal or the name of the function in the DLL, the hint column represents the ordinal value of the interface function inside the DLL, the function column represents the functions name, and the Entry point column represents the function entry points. As you can see from Figure 22-15, Regmfcdllsample. The Showdlg () interface function is available in the DLL. Users can use this tool to view the other DLLs that are called by the specified DLL and the interface functions provided by the specified DLLs.
