VMware Virtual machine Bridging network settings

first, the basic principle of bridge connectionA virtual machine configured as a bridge network connection mode is considered as part of the Ethernet of the host, and the relationship between the virtual system and the host machine, like two computers connected to the same hub, can access all the shared resources and network connections in the Ethernet as a host. You can access the Internet directly by sharing the Internet access line of the host network. You can exchange visits between the host and the virtual machine, as well as between the virtual machines. The corresponding virtual machine is considered as an independent physical machine on the host Ethernet, and the virtual machine is connected with the host Ethernet through the default VMNET0 network card, and the virtual network between virtual machines is VMnet0. Your virtual machine is like a standalone physical machine in a local area network. The operating system in the virtual machine can ping the other host, which in turn can ping the virtual machine. To make them communicate with each other, you need to configure the IP address and subnet mask for the virtual system, or you will not be able to communicate.Second, the configuration steps

1, first determine whether the VMware Bridge Protocol protocol has been installed. Can be viewed in the properties of a local connection. If it's a lite version of VMware, it's probably not installed.

2. The Ubuntu10.04 system in the virtual machine is set to the bridged mode network. Virtual machine-Settings-select network adapter--Bridge.

3, network settings. Edit-Edit Virtual network-summary. Check to see if there is already a default bridged NIC, such as the following VMnet0. My previous setup is VMnet2, the result is not so, the specific reason is not clear. But the change to VMnet0 is so.

You can set the virtual machine as a static IP when you get here.

Select the host virtual network map. The VMnet0 is to be set up as a physical network card because it is connected by a bridging method.

First to the host (generally win), into the cmd command interface, input Ipconfig/all can see the local connection information, there (physical address, IP, mask, gateway, DNS) can be seen, of course, can also be found in the Network Sharing Center can see

Then follow the method settings for how to set the static IP address in the Linux system

It is worth noting that the MAC address, mask, gateway, DNS need to be modified inside the same as the host, IP needs and host on a network segment. Normally it will succeed, but there are special circumstances that need to be studied slowly, good luck.

  1. Input in Terminal: Vi/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

  2. 2

Start editing, fill in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS, and so on. Where "the information inside the red box" is necessary.

  3. 3

When you are finished editing, save the exit.

  4. 4

Restart the Network service. Service network restart or/etc/init.d/network restart

  5. 5

Ping the gateway and ping the extranet for testing. Can ping to indicate that the network is normal.

    1. 6

      Summary:

      ---Modify the IP address---

      Immediate effect:

      # ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.155 netmask 255.255.255.0

      Restart takes effect:

      Modify/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

      ---Modify the default gateway---

      Immediate effect:

      # route add default GW 192.168.1.1

      Restart takes effect:

      Modify/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

      ---modify DNS---

      Modify/etc/resolv.conf

Immediate effect after modification, restart is also valid

      ---Modify the host name---

      Immediate effect:

      # hostname Test1

      Restart takes effect:

      Modify/etc/sysconfig/network
