VMware's terminology vSphere, VCenter Server, ESXI, vsphere Client
vsphere, VCenter Server, ESXI, vsphere Client
Vsphere contains a number of product components and is a VMware virtualization platform
ESXi is actually a Linux operating system, is a host , the user is not root, but the admin, and requires the server to support hardware virtualization
Multiple ESXi hosts make up a cluster, and several clusters form a single data center, and vcenter can manage the cluster or manage the data center
VCenter Server is the equivalent of Microsoft's System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) as a unified management tool
Both VSphere client and VCenter server can manage the ESXi server, where only one client can manage only one machine, which centrally manages the entire cluster and data center
VSphere Client Virtual Machine host Management client, Vcenter is a powerful management side, it can be more than one ESXi host as a cluster, vmotion and other functions must use vcenter to achieve.
The connection principle is as follows
VSphere---->vcenter------>esxi Server
Is that vsphere is going to connect vcenter and manage ESXi hosts via vcenter.
Rhev:redhat Enterprise Virtualization Red Hat Virtualization
OVirt: An open source version of Rhev, open VIRTMANAGER,KVM Virtualization management platform for small businesses
Products similar to VCenter server: Ovirt-engine in Citrix Xencenter,ovirt, Microsoft SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager)
ESXi Similar Products: OVirt Node in Xenserver,ovirt in Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V (strictly speaking, hyper-V is not the same level as ESXi, OVirt Node, and ESXi itself is a Linux operating system
, and Hyper-V is just a component within Windows Server)
