The information center in the AR G3 series routers (also available for S-series switches) records the data generated by each module during the operation of the device, including log, trap (decoy, or trap), and debug (debug) information. The following table is the default configuration for the InfoCenter:
Classification of information
Depending on the type of information the device generates, the device supports the output of log information, trap information, and debug information to different output directions according to different output rules.
Classification of information
By classifying the information, users can make a rough judgment based on the level of information, take measures in time, and block the information that need not be processed. Depending on the severity or urgency of the information, the information is divided into 8 levels, the more serious the information, the smaller the severity threshold (i.e., the number shown). When filtering information based on severity level, only the information that the severity level threshold is less than or equal to the configured severity level threshold is output, that is, only the output equals the configuration level and more severe than the configuration level .
Output of information
The information generated by the device can be output to remote terminal, console, log buffer, log file, SNMP agent and so on. In order to facilitate the output control of each direction information, the information Center defines 10 channels, independent output between channels, the user can configure the output rules according to the needs of information, control different categories, different levels of information from different information channels output to different output direction.
The user can change the name of the information channel as needed, or you can change the correspondence between the 6, 7, 83 information channels and the output direction that are retained by default.
Output format and output filtering of information
The format of the log information and a locally stored log record (which can be viewed through the display Logbuffer command to log buffer records).
Trap Information Format and a locally stored trap record (viewable through the display Trapbuffer command).
In order to make the output control of information more flexible, the information Center provides the function of filtering. The information center implements the filtering of information in the channel by filtering tables. Information filtering table is based on information classification, classification, source for the output to various directions of the information filtering. The contents of Information filter table record include information module number, log information output switch status, log information output filter level, trap information output switch state, trap information output filter level, debug information output switch status, debug information output filter level. The default output rule table for information channels defines information modules, minimum information levels, and information channels that can be output by different categories of information, such as tables:
Configuring log information output
The log information for the specified module can be configured to output to the log buffer, log file, console, terminal, and log host, which also forms the logging information filtering table.
Log Information Output configuration task
Log information output includes the configuration tasks can be divided into two categories: first, the log information output basic functions and parameters configuration, the second is the log information output configuration.
1. Log information output basic function and parameter configuration
Includes the following aspects (only the first is required configuration tasks, others can choose the configuration according to the actual needs, because there are default values)
1) Enable Information Center: only enable the information center function, can be related to the information Center configuration.
2) named information Channel: for easy memory and use, you can rename each channel's default name.
3) Configure the log information filtering function: Do not need to pay attention to the log information, you can configure the information filtering function to screen the output.
4) Configure the timestamp for log information: The time format that is configured as the user's own custom.
5) Go to enable the Count function of log information: If you do not want the record to carry the serial number information, can be removed, usually not configured, because the log information of the serial number for log information to help to view.
2. Log information Output configuration
1) Configure the log information output to the log buffer: If you wish to see the log information generated by the device in the log buffer of the local device, you can configure the output to the log buffer.
2) Configure log information output to log file: Log information is stored in the local device memory in the file format.
3) Configure the log information output to the console: Output to console console, can be monitored in time
4) Configure log information output to Terminal: Telnet or stelnet login, log information output to vty terminal.
5) Configure log information output to the log host: If there is a log host dedicated to storing log information, you can configure log information output to the log host.
Configure the Log information output basic function :
Configure the log information output to the log buffer :
If the user wants to see the log information generated by the device in the log buffer through the display Logbuffer command, the log information can be configured to output to the log buffer.
Here's a little doubt: 3rd step: Info-center Logbuffer channel {channel-number | channel-name} Configure the log information output to the channel used by the log buffer, and 4th step: Info-center Source {module-name |default} Channel {channel-number | channel-name} log {state {off | on} | le Vel severity} * There is also a channel configuration, which specifies the output channel to configure the rule. My understanding is that the two channels should be the same. I don't know if that's true. Another thing is the log state's on and off what it means, specify the log information sent status, off does not send, on send log information.
Configuring log information output to a log file
Log information can be saved as a log file only if there is storage media (such as a USB flash drive or SD card) in the device.
Configure log information output to console or terminal
Configuring log information output to the log host
Log Information Output Management
You can use the Display arbitrary view command to view the configuration information, verify the configuration results, and also have the command to clear the relevant log information statistics.
1) Display Info-center: View the configuration information for the Information center output direction.
2) Display Info-center Statistics: View the statistics for the Information center.
3) Display Channel "Channel-number | Channel-name ": View configuration information for the specified or all information channels.
4) display info-center Filter-id "id | Bymodule-alias ModName alias ": View information for the specified serial number or module filtered by the InfoCenter.
5) Display Info-center logfile path: View the path where the log file is saved.
6) Display logfile File-name "offset | Hex "*: View the entire or specified offset log file information for the specified file name.
7) Display Logbuffer: View the log buffer log information.
8) Reset Info-center Statistics: Clears the information statistics for each module.
9) Reset Logbuffer: Clears the log information in the log buffer.
Using Display Info-center Statistics:
You can see all the module names here.
example of a configuration that outputs log information to a log file :
Ideas:
--Enabling Information Center
--Configure the information channel and output rules to send log information to the logging file to enable the log information generated by the device to be saved as a journal file.
--The configuration log file is sent to the FTP server to enable the administrator to view the log information on the FTP server.
Example of a configuration that outputs log information to the log host:
Physical topology:
Configuration ideas:
1) Enable Information Center function
2) Configure the router to send log information generated by the FIB module and the IP module to Server1, which is notification to the logging host, and router to the log host Server2 from the PPP module and the AAA module, The log information for the severity level is warning. To ensure the reliability of the log host, configure Server3 as the Server1 backup device, Server4 as the Server2 backup device.
3) Configure log hosts on 4 servers to enable network administrators to receive log information generated by router on the log host.
Specific configuration steps:
To configure a single example:
<ra>system-view
Enter system view, return user view with Ctrl + Z.
[Ra]info-center Enable
Info:information Center is enabled.
#---4 server log hosts need to use the 6th and 7th information channels, respectively named Loghost1 and Loghost2
[Ra]info-center Channel 8 name Loghost3
#---The information channel used to configure the log host
[Ra]info-center loghost 192.168.1.100 channel Loghost3
#---Configure the rules to output log information to the log host channel.
[Ra]info-center source default channel LOGHOST3 log level debugging
#---Configure the source interface for sending log information
[Ra]info-center loghost Source Gigabitethernet 0/0/0
Then configure the log host to start the syslog server on 192.168.1.100:
You can see that the log message has been sent over.
Configure trap information output : Similar to log configuration, the trap information for the specified module can also be configured to output to the trap buffer, log file, console, terminal, log host, and SNMP agent.
Trap Information Output Configuration task: Divided into two categories, one is the trap information output basic functions and parameters configuration, the second is the trap information output configuration.
Trap information output basic function and parameter configuration: Enable information Center; Name information channel; Configure the filter function of trap information; Configure the timestamp for trap information.
Trap Information Output configuration:
1) Configure the trap information output to the trap buffer, by default, the system to the trap buffer output information using channel 3rd, the system to the 3rd channel output trap information status is on, the lowest information level is debugging.
2) Configure the trap information output to the log file, basically with the log information output to the journal file.
3) Configure trap information output to console or terminal
4) Configure the trap information output to the log host.
5) Configure the trap information output to the SNMP agent.
Sample configuration to output trap information to the SNMP agent:
Physical topology:
Ideas: 1) enable information Center; 2) Configure the data channel and output rules to output trap information to the SNMP agent, 3) Configure the trap information output to the network management station, in order to realize the net administrator can receive the trap information generated by the router in the NMS.
Specific steps:
Configuring Output Debug Information
The debug information output can be configured to output debug information from the specified module to the log file, console, terminal, and log host, but debugging consumes CPU resources and should be executed immediately after debugging debugging all
Configuration tasks are divided into two main categories, basic functions and parameter configuration and output configuration two aspects.
Example of configuration to output debug information to the console:
The PC and the router are connected through the console port, hoping to see debug information on the ARP module on the PC.
Configuration ideas: 1) Enable Information Center function, 2) Configure the output debug information channel and output rules to the console, 3) enable the terminal display function, in order to realize the user can see the router generated by the debug information; 4) turn on the ARP debug switch, Enables the router to generate debug information for the ARP module.
Specific steps:
<ra>system-view
Enter system view, return user view with Ctrl + Z.
[Ra]info-center Enable
Info:information Center is enabled.
[Ra]info-center source ARP Channel console debug level debugging state on
[Ra]quit
#---Enable terminal display function
<ra>terminal Monitor
Info:current terminal Monitor is on.
<ra>terminal debugging
Info:current terminal debugging is on.
#---Open the debug switch of the ARP module
<ra>debugging ARP Packet
