RAID 0 is a storage space without data redundancy striped, with low cost, very high read and write performance, high storage space utilization of the raid level, suitable for video/audio storage, temporary file dump, etc. for the speed of the most demanding special applications. However, because there is no data redundancy, its security is greatly reduced. Damage to any piece of hard disk that makes up the array will result in catastrophic data loss.

RADI 1 the use of disk mirroring technology, the two hard disk data is fully mirrored, security, technology is simple, easy to manage. Good read and write performance. However, it can not be expanded (single disk capacity), data space waste.

RAID 5 is currently the most widely used raid technology. A variety of independent hard disks are striped, the same stripe area for parity, check data evenly distributed on each hard disk. The RAID 5 array built with n fast drives can have N-1 fast hard drive capacity and storage space utilization is very high. RAID 5 has the advantages of data security, good reading and writing speed, high space utilization, and wide application, but the disadvantage is that the performance of the whole system is greatly reduced after the failure of the 1 fast hard disk.

Raid is a combination of RAID 1 and RAID 0, RAID 5 and RAID 0. Given the pros and cons of RAID0, RAID1 and RAID5, RAID10 and RAID 50 are the best balance points between them. If you have more than 6 drives in your configuration, we strongly recommend that you choose RAID10 or RAID 50.

Overall, RAID0 and RAID1 are best suited for PC servers and graphics workstations, providing the best performance and the cheapest price. RAID5 is suitable for large-scale data processing center OLTP applications, such as banking, finance, stock market, database, etc., while providing data security and high reading and writing performance.
