Use the MMC console
You may need to use the pre-configured MMC console (usually called the "saved console", which is part of an operating system or application) and never need to create a custom console. The pre-configured console is usually available in the "Administrative Tools" folder or "start" menu of "Control Panel. If you save the custom console to each user's "Administrative Tools" folder (at // systemdrive/administrative ents and settings/user/Start Menu/programs/Administrative Tools ), in this case, the console in the "Administrative Tools" folder in the "program" menu is available.

Any pre-configuration console that is part of the operating system is configured to open in one of three user modes. The default mode is "User Mode-restricted access, single window ". For more information about default Console mode settings, see console access options.

Customize MMC and save the console View
You can use the "Custom View" dialog box on the "View" menu "Custom" command to hide or display console elements. One element that can be hidden is the View menu itself. If you want to reconfigure the view, you can also access the "Custom View" dialog box from the "Custom View" command in the "System" menu. For more information, see hide or display saved MMC console functions and hide or display snap-in menus and toolbar.

Use the columns in the saved Console
In the details pane, you can customize how to display columns and rows on the saved console. For example, you can re-arrange or hide columns. You can also click the column title to reschedule rows in alphabetical or chronological order. In addition, you can use a specific management unit to filter columns based on additional attributes. If this function is enabled, a drop-down list box containing filtering options is displayed under the column title. For more information, see reinstalling In the MMC console, hiding or displaying columns in the MMC console, and filtering rows in the MMC console.

You can also export the column content to a text file. For more information, see export a column in the MMC console as a text file.

If columns are in the Custom console, the settings for each session are saved.

Use the console from the old version of MMC
The console created using the old version of MMC (Version 1.1 and version 1.2) can be read by the MMC version 2.0. However, saving these files in MMC 2.0 will automatically convert these files and will not be able to restore them to files in the old format in the future. For more information, see files created using an earlier version of MMC in MMC 2.0.

Use the MMC console to remotely control the master policy or registry

Of course, when using the MMC console to remotely manage the server, you must first obtain the super management permission of the server, and then install the corresponding MMC plug-in and some management tools; for example, to remotely control a Windows Server 2003 server, you must first obtain the Service Permissions for managing Windows 2003 servers, you also need to install the MMC plug-in and related management tools for Windows 2003 servers on your local computer. Once the above conditions are met, you can perform remote control on the server as follows:

Click the "Start"/"run" command to open the system running dialog box, enter the string command "MMC", and click "OK, open the MMC console window, and click the "file"/"Add/delete Management Unit" command in the menu bar of the MMC console. In the setting window that appears later, click the "independent" label, and on the corresponding tab page, continue to click the "add" button
Select the "Computer Management" option in the settings window, and then click the "add" button in the corresponding window. In the dialog box shown in 3, select the "another computer" option, enter the IP address of the server to be remotely controlled, and click "finish" to exit the "Computer Management" setting window;

Return to the MMC console window, double-click the management unit you just added, and you will be able to remotely control and manage the server like managing the local workstation. However, when you manage a remote server, an error message "no permission to access the remote computer" or "No access" appears on the System screen, it indicates that you have not obtained the permission to remotely manage the server. In this case, you can click the "file"/"save" menu commands in the console window. In the subsequent file storage dialog box, save the current console as "Remote Management Server ", and exit the MMC console.

Click Start, programs, and administrative tools, and right-click the saved Remote Management Server Project (4) in the lower menu that appears ), run the "run mode" command in the shortcut menu. In the "run identity" setting box that appears, enter the user name and password for managing the remote server, as shown in Figure 5. Then execute the MMC command again, open the MMC console window, and you will be able to remotely manage the target server. It is worth noting that if the local computer and the target server do not belong to the Active Directory Member, even if you enter the super Administrator Account of the target server correctly in the "Running identity" setting box, A super Administrator Account must be created for the local computer.

Windows MMC (Microsoft Management Console) is a management platform launched in the Windows NT era.

The MMC console allows you to combine management tools of different network services and components in one console for unified maintenance and management. For example, you can integrate "disk management", "service", "Computer Management", "Device Manager", and other management tools into a console.

Usage: MMC does not provide management functions, but can integrate various management tools. Management tools for each network service or component are called independent management units.
In the "Start" menu, enter "MMC" in "run", open the MMC console window, and select "Add/delete snap-in" in the "file" menu ", in the displayed dialog box, click "add". In the displayed dialog box, select the desired management unit. After clicking "add", return to the upper-level dialog box, finally, confirm the added Management Unit. Click "OK" and return to the console window. You can use the "file" menu to save the console. The file name suffix is MSC.

Save and open:
There are four tool modes in the console:
1. Author mode: all functions of the MMC console, such as the ability to add or delete management units. This mode is usually used by users who create custom console files for themselves or others.
2. User Mode-full access: the mode is the same as the author mode, but the user cannot add or delete a management unit or change console options.
3. User Mode-restricted access, multi-window: public access is provided to the visible part of the console tree when saving console files. You can create new windows, but cannot close any existing windows.
4. User Mode-restricted access, multi-window: public access is provided to the visible part of the console tree when saving console files. You cannot create a new window.

Change Console mode in the "options" sub-menu in the "Files" menu.

After setting the Console mode, you can use the "file" menu to save the console to a specified location, such as the desktop, "Start" menu, or "Management Tools. You only need to open the saved console when downloading. If you want to change the console to user mode, right-click the console and select the author to switch to the author mode on the console. Then, you can add or delete the console.
