I. Understanding wireless speed
Can a m wireless router realize the actual wireless transmission rate of Mbps? The answer is No. The 300 M and M labels provided by the wireless router refer to the maximum theoretical wireless transmission rate of the router. In actual transmission, even in the ideal environment, because the wireless connection uses a half-duplex transmission mode, only one party can transmit data at a time, the wireless transmission rate will be reduced. In fact, our use environment is likely to have a lot of interference, resulting in reduced wireless signal; or multiple wireless terminal devices are connected to the router at the same time, because Wi-Fi is a shared connection, these terminal devices will share the wireless rate.
Currently, the bandwidth provided by service providers generally does not exceed 100 M. Therefore, the 300 M or M wireless transmission rate refers to the transmission rate in the LAN, the speed of Internet access depends on the Internet (that is, the bandwidth provided by the service provider.
MbpsAndMB/s
Generally, the network bandwidth and network adapter, such as 10 m adsl, M optical fiber, M wireless network adapter, and IPVM wireless router, are measured in Mbps; the unit that makes sense to us for the download speed, Internet access speed, and disk read/write speed is MB/s. 1 MB/s = 8 Mbps, that is, if it is a 12.5 m optical fiber, the theoretical maximum transmission speed is MB/s.
2. Why is the wireless speed slow?
In real life, the rate of wireless connection is often slower than that of wired connection, because the current wired connection uses a full-duplex transmission mode, wireless connections use half-duplex transmission. A wired connection is equivalent to a two-way road, and data can be directly transmitted as long as there is data. A wireless connection is equivalent to a one-way road, and only one direction of transmission can be allowed at a time, you must wait for the road to be occupied before transmission starts. In addition, the following factors may slow the wireless transmission rate:
Many wireless access devices:WiFi is a shared connection. If multiple wireless devices are connected under a vro, each device can only be allocated a certain amount of bandwidth. For example, two mobile phones are connected under 10 Mbps of bandwidth, the bandwidth allocated to each mobile phone may be less than 5 MB. If one wireless device is downloading, playing, and other operations that occupy a large amount of bandwidth, the bandwidth allocated to other devices will be less. In addition, due to poor wireless encryption or other factors, wireless networks may be compromised, and some bandwidth may be occupied without knowing it.
Wireless network card type:When our wireless devices (such as mobile phones and laptops) are connected to wireless signals, a wireless transmission rate will be negotiated with the router. The higher the speed supported by the wireless network card of the device, the negotiated wireless transmission rate is higher. Currently, most wireless network adapters of mobile phones support 54 Mbps and 72 Mbps, and most wireless network adapters of laptops support 144 Mbps. That is to say, even if you connect to a wireless router that is IPVM, the theoretical maximum wireless transmission rate for a notebook is 150 Mbps. In addition, the new and old wireless Nic drivers may also affect the wireless transmission rate. In general, this does not affect our use of the Internet. It is obvious only when the devices in the LAN transfer files to each other.
Wireless signal attenuation:In real life, there are many situations that may lead to attenuation of the wireless signal strength. For example, obstacles such as the distance from the wireless router and the middle wall may lead to a sharp reduction of the wireless signal. In addition, the operating frequency of the single-frequency wireless router is 2.4 GHz, while microwave oven, refrigerator, cordless phone, wireless mouse, and other devices work in the GHz band, electromagnetic interference in the same frequency band may affect wireless network signals, and the closer the distance is, the greater the impact. If multiple wireless signals exist, the wireless signals on the same channel or adjacent channels also affect each other.
Vro settings:The router's wireless parameters and bandwidth control settings also affect the wireless speed. At present, the common wireless encryption methods mainly include WEP and WPA-PSK, and WEP encryption method is not only low security, but also will reduce the wireless transmission rate to 11g level, that is to say, even m wireless router, if WEP encryption is used, the maximum transmission rate of the wireless connection is less than 54 Mbps. In addition, if the router is configured with bandwidth control, the maximum Internet access speed of the terminal device is limited, and the wireless transmission rate of each terminal device is also affected.
3. How to increase the wireless speed?
Generally, multiple wireless terminal devices in the home are connected to the vro. To ensure that each device can access the internet normally, you need to avoid large traffic operations such as watching videos, playing games, and downloading at the same time. If this is not necessary, do not set bandwidth control to limit the Internet access speed of the terminal device. In addition, we can improve the wireless transmission rate from the following aspects:
1To reduce interference:Wireless routers and terminal devices should be kept away from microwave ovens, cordless phones, wireless mice, and other devices. If there are many wireless signals around them, the wireless channels should be fixed to 1, 6, and 11 respectively, continue to use and observe the effect.
2, Adjust the router location:The wireless signal is centered around the router, so it is best to place the router in the center of the use environment, try not to place in the corner or in the middle of the shelter. In addition, you can adjust the angle of the router antenna to achieve better wireless coverage.
3
, Wireless encryption:Wireless WPA-PSK encryption, and set up more than 8 digits and letters in combination with the wireless password, can greatly reduce the risk of network.
4, Dual-band router is recommended:It can work in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time. The wireless transmission of the two frequencies is independent of each other. That is to say, if the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies of the dual-band router provide a wireless transmission rate of Mbps and Mbps respectively, two terminal devices connect wireless signals of 2 to 4 GHz and 5 GHz respectively, so the two devices can achieve a maximum wireless transmission rate of Mbps and Mbps respectively. In addition, the 5 GHz band has fewer interference sources and the Internet access speed is better than the 2-4 GHz band.
Note:Currently, only some terminal devices support searching for 5 GHz wireless signals. Please confirm before purchase.
5, Change wireless network card:For a laptop or desktop computer, you can use a m wireless network card or dual-band wireless network card (if there is a 5 GHz wireless signal in the environment) to greatly improve the intranet transmission speed. If the wireless network card has been used for a long time, you can try to update the wireless network card driver.
