This situation occurs when the indicator light of the time drive (burner) flashes, in and out of the warehouse, spindle motor is also working normally, but after starting the computer into the Windows system, in the "My Computer" without the CD-ROM drive (burner) of the letter, select "Control Panel" Add New hardware, or reboot can not detect the existence of the optical drive (burner).
To resolve this "optical drive (burner) loss" problem, you need to start from the "hard" and "soft" two aspects.
1. Hardware inspection: First of all, to check whether the data cable connected to the optical drive (burner) is plugged in or inserted back, whether there is a circuit breaker, poor contact and so on. Use normal data line replacements when necessary to verify. If the optical drive (burner) is connected to the same IDE interface by using the same root cable as the hard disk, you also need to check the CD drive's primary and jumper settings.
2. Software problem: When you confirm that the hardware connection is correct, you can use the following two ways to try to resolve:
① Configure Config.sys and Autoexec.bat. These profiles are normally not used when the optical drive (burner) is working properly. Because the optical drive (burner) real-mode driver in these profiles is used, the drive's read performance is lowered. After the optical drive (burner) is "lost", we can add the real mode drive of the optical drive (burner) in these profiles, and then we can find the optical drive (burner) after reboot. The two configuration files are then removed and restarted, and the system automatically drives the optical drive (burner) using the standard driver under Windows.
② Remove the hard drive controller. Most people find that after the "lost" optical drive (burner), they first think of using the "Find new Hardware" feature of Windows to find the optical drive (burner). However, the "Find new Hardware" feature is not always efficacious, and it often fails to discover the "lost" optical drive (burner). The solution is to turn on "My Computer" → "Control Panel" → "System" → "Device Manager" → "Hard disk Controller", and then click "Delete", the computer will require a reboot. After restarting the computer will find the primary IDE controller and secondary IDE controller and automatically install the driver, once again, the "Lost" optical drive (burner) can be found after you start the computer.
