What is the format of EPS?

The EPS file is an integrated format in the common Interchange format commonly used in desktop printing systems. The EPS file format is also called the PS format with a pre view image, which is composed of a PostScript language text file and an (optionally) low-resolution representation of the PICT or TIFF format description. An EPS file is a PostScript file that includes file header information that enables other applications to embed the file in the document.

Characteristics:

(1) The EPS file format is also called the PS format with a pre view image, which is composed of a PostScript language text file and an (optionally) low-resolution representation of the PICT or TIFF format description.

(2) The "encapsulation" unit of the EPS file format is a page, which is one. In addition, the page size can be determined by the overall rectangular boundary of the object on the saved page, so it can be used to save a standard page size in a group version of the software, or to hold a rectangular area of an object of an independent size.

(3) The text portion of the same can be written out of ASCII characters (this produces a larger file, but can be modified and checked directly in the normal editor), or it can be written out by binary digits (the resulting file is small, fast, but inconvenient to modify and check).

(4) Although the method of vector description is used in the EPS file, it can hold the dot-matrix image, but it does not convert the dot-matrix image to vector description, but saves all the pixel data as the pixel file description. For the pixel image of the group version of the clipping and output control parameters, such as contour curve parameters, screen parameters and dot shape, image and color block color device feature file (profile), etc., are used in PostScript language to save separately. Such as:

Include halftone screen (with mesh parameters)

Include Transfer function (including transfer functions)

PostScript color Management (PS color Management)

(5) EPS files are available in several forms, such as CMYK EPS in color space (with a PostScript description of the four-color separations and an optional low-resolution representation image), RGB eps,l*a*b eps. Different software generated various EPS files also have a certain difference, such as Photoshop eps, generic Eps,ai (EPS format iiiustrator software version) and so on. You should be aware of their compatibility when using cross use.

(6) The EPS file can carry all the information about the word-related font at the same time.

Print:

The EPS file can carry all the information about the word-related font at the same time.

It is particularly important to note that when exporting to a non-PostScript device, you can output only low-resolution representations. High-resolution output can be obtained only on PostScript output devices. So in many cases, the proofs we print are very rough because we use a non-PostScript printer to print PostScript files. As soon as you change to a PostScript printer, almost perfect graphics will print out.

Use:

Using this format to generate files, there is no problem with where, most professional software will deal with it. As far as I know, EPS files can be applied to the typesetting and design of PageMaker software. EPS file, it is a good file format, the application of it can give us a file exchange to bring great convenience.

Difference:

PostScript Format (PS format). It is a standard format for PostScript languages, consisting of a multiple-page description of the ASCII character (or its binary form) corresponding to the PostScript language, with a description of the vector graphic as its specialty, but it can also hold the bitmap image. PS format is a direct output to the print device file format, the graphic description of the printing equipment (imagesetter) at the specified resolution to restore the raster image lattice, if there is a pixel image, its output resolution by the application software or output software settings. This format is the "original" format of the PostScript page description language, and its biggest feature is that a PS file can contain many pages of an entire section.

Disadvantages

EPS (encapsulated PostScript) is the most important format for working with images, which is widely used in graphics and layouts in Mac and PC environments and is printed on PostScript output devices. Almost every drawing program and most page layout programs allow you to save an EPS document. In Photoshop, the position command (note: The place command only supports EPS illustrations) is converted to EPS format via the File menu.

It is recommended that you put an image into the Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress and other software, the best choice is EPs. However, because the image volume is too large during the save process, it is recommended that you do not use EPS format if you are simply saving the image. If your files are to be printed on a PostScript-free printer, it is best not to use the EPS format to avoid printing problems. You can use TIFF or JPEG format instead.
