Recently, the machine starts to sound constantly and the system cannot start. I searched the internet to record the fault types related to the sound.

1. Award BIOS

1. Short: the system starts normally and the machine has no problems.
2 short: Regular error. Enter BIOS setup and reset the incorrect options.
1 long and 1 short: RAM or motherboard error.
1 long 2 short: Incorrect display or display card.
1 long 3 short: Incorrect keyboard controller. Check the motherboard.
1 long 9 short: The Flash RAM or eprom on the motherboard is incorrect, and the bios is damaged.
Constant sound (long sound): the memory stick is not plugged in or damaged.
Non-stop sound: power supply, the display is not connected to the display card. Check all the plugs.
No sound, no display: power supply problems.
2. Ami bios self-check alarm
Description:
1 short: failed to refresh the memory. Replace the memory stick.
2 short: Memory ECC verification error. Go to BIOS setup and reset the memory option for ECC verification to Disable. However, the fundamental solution is to change the memory.
3 short: the system basic RAM (the first 640KB) Check failed. Change memory.
4 short: the system clock is incorrect.
5 short: CPU error.
6. Short: the keyboard controller is incorrect.
7. Short: The system real-time mode is incorrect and cannot be switched to the protection mode.
8: memory error is displayed. Change the video card.
9 short: rom bios check and error.
1 long 3 short: memory error.
1 long, 8 short: The test error is displayed. The display data line is not plugged in or the display card is not plugged in.
3. Compatible with BIOS boot self-check alarms
Description:
1. Short: the system starts normally and the machine has no problems.
2 short: the system power-on self-check (POST) fails.
1 long: power supply error. If not displayed, It is a display card error.

When the computer starts the self-check, if a fault occurs, there is often an alarm and an error message. different sounds indicate different error messages. The following uses two common BIOS (ami bios and Award BIOS) as an example.

Award

1. Two transient sounds: Incorrect CMOS settings
2. Long and Short: memory or Motherboard
3. One long and two short: display or video card
4. One long, three short: keyboard
5. One long, nine short: motherboard flash memory
6. Persistent sound: Memory looseness or chip Problems
7. Non-stop transient sound: Power Supply Failure
8. Keep ringing: the display is not connected to the video card.

AMI

1. A short response: failed to refresh the memory
2. Two transient sound: Memory Verification Failed
3. Trigger: system basic memory self-check failed
4. Four transient sound: system clock error
5. Five-voice short calls: CPU Error
6. Six transient sound: Incorrect keyboard

Check whether various data lines, power cables, and components are in poor contact according to the judgment or prompt.

When you suspect that there is a problem with the CMOS settings, you are not familiar with the CMOS. You can press "DEL" to enter CMOS at startup.
There are two items "Lond Setup Defaults" and "Load BIOS Defaults" on the main menu (different versions of individual words or have differences). Select one item and press F10 to exit.
These two are the default options of the system. The difference is that the former can make the computer play a high performance, but may not be stable; the latter can make the machine start in the safest way, however, many functions are blocked.
