1. The recommended server to sync is windows2003 SP2 above.

2. Make sure that the computers you want to synchronize are joined to the domain and log on to the system using the same domain account (preferably the administrator). The system does not have a firewall turned on. (without joining the domain, please set the password of the computer's Aministrator account to the same password, and add the computer name IP in the Hosts file of each machine to allow them to resolve each other's name)

3. Opens the Distributed File system service and the File Replication service and is set to run automatically.

4. Establish working directory D:\dfs (shared file directory) on each member server's D disk

5. Open the Distributed File System component on one of the servers (assuming the host). (under the Administrative tools)

6. On the left menu, right click on "Distributed File System", select "New Root", select "Domain Root",

Select a domain, next, type the name of the primary server, which can be the name of the native, next, enter the root name, and select the shared folder (Create a shared folder, D:\dfs).

7. Right-click the left list to create a good root directory, select new root destination, select another member server's shared folder (COMPUTERNAME\D$\DSF), and continue (make sure two shared folders have sufficient permissions).

8. Right-click on the left list to create a good root directory, select "Configure Replication", the topology Select "Staggered" and continue the configuration completed.

9. Wait a moment, you should be able to do two-way real-time synchronization.

To add a new member server, repeat the 7-9 steps above, and the new server may not sync immediately after the addition, and the following actions are required.

Open the DFS Management window and right-click the Dfs root to display replication information. If you find the file copy status of the newly added server on the right displayed as disabled, right-click the server and select Enable replication. Then restart the server and it should be synchronized after the reboot is complete.

Note: The system automatically generates a temporary folder to support replication, depending on the selection that was initially configured.

In addition to the start of synchronization, if manual mass-deletion, the system will generate a large number of garbage files in the synchronization directory, these files can be deleted, it is recommended to do large quantities of manual maintenance, turn off synchronization.

Note: It is best to add all the servers, then to configure replication, or after the configuration of replication, the new server always have inexplicable problems.

The practice of the process, found that if you have configured 3 servers, DC master, 2 members to do the auxiliary, and then add one, the discovery of new servers can never replicate, the reason is unknown. After testing, if you are adding a server, it is recommended that you first kick the non-primary server off the Web site (that is, not receive the dynamic write file), keep only the primary server, and then stop the Replication service. Add a new server to the DFS list. Start replication. Then reboot all the non-primary servers.
