Issues encountered installing the operating system:

Windows 2008R2;

1) Dell R710 server, all hard disk created raid5,8 block 2.5 inch, sas,300gb,10k, all zoned to Vg,virtual Disk0, when installing the operating system, the recognized disk does not exceed 2T. Directly zoned partition installation system.

2) Dell R710 Server, when the hard disk is 8 2.5 inch, SAS,10K,600GB, made RAID 5, if all to virtual disk0, the total capacity of about 4T. When you enter the operating system installation, the unallocated space that you see when you create a new partition is automatically changed to 2 parts, a portion of 2T, and an unallocated space of approximately 1800G left unusable.

Starting with the thought of creating 4 primary partitions, the test found that the extended partition creation still made an error.

Because the MBR partition table supports a maximum partition of 2TB, it needs to be in GPT format, but because the boot partition does not support GPT format.

How to resolve:

when creating RAID5, divide 2 logical volumes : Select RAID5, tick all hard drives, tab to the creation of VG size, because it is 4T, modify capacity to maximum capacity divided by 2, select OK; Then choose space allocation to divide all the remaining space. You can see that 2 logical volumes were created, virtual Disk0 and Disk1. The operating system can be installed normally.

Centos6.5:

The same MBR partition table supports a maximum partition of 2tb,12 servers, each with a capacity of 12 3TB HDD RH2288

has been divided with Fdisk before. Half, thanks to the hands of the cheap knocked down the df-h, all 2T, but also to re ...
