WIN7 and XP make up the dual system and coexist with the C drive, there are 2 major problems, one is that they have three folders with the same name, Documents and Settings, programe files, windows, overwriting the installation will cause the previous system to not start properly. You can change the XP installation path by modifying the XP installation disk so that XP is installed under a folder in the C drive, not the root directory. The second problem, after installing XP, you can implement the dual system selection menu by EASYBCD this software.
To modify the XP installation disk:
Modify the XP installation disk 2 files Winnt.sif and Hivesft.inf. It is recommended to copy (or unzip) the installation disk to the hard disk, and to change the file directly after the installation, eliminating the hassle of re-packaging. Locate the Winnt.sif file in the I386 folder, open it in Notepad, find [Unattended] in the file, and modify the Targepath= "Windows" under it to Targetpath= "/winxp/windows", adding Programfilesdir= "/winxp/program Files" and commonprogramfilesdir= "/winxp/program files/common Files" and save. Then find the Hivesft.inf file in the I386 folder, and also use Notepad to open the Genuine XP system download. Find Default_profiles_dir= "%systemdrire%documents and Settings" to modify it to default_profiles_dir= "%systemdrive%/winxp/ Documents and Settings "save. WinXP is the XP installation directory you want, you can set it yourself, but you need to keep it consistent. Note: If the above two files do not have the relevant content, please add the line in the appropriate location yourself.
After modifying the above two files, enter the PE system and install XP from the hard disk. After the installation is complete, the system entered is XP, which needs to be repaired by EASYBCD to WIN7 boot. First install the. NET Framework 2.0, and then run EASYBCD, select Manage Boot projects,
Locate the "Reset Windows Vista Boot project" and click "Write". Reboot.
Reboot into the 7 system, the same run EASYBCD, select "Add-delete (Project)", select "Windows", version Select "Windows Nt/2k/xp/sk3" disk is you install XP system disk, renamed is you want XP in the boot menu display. Click Save.
