With the rapid decline in the price of hard disk, the use of dual-drive friends is more and more, is generally a piece of the system as the main disk, the other as a storage file from the disk. If you are using Windows 7, you will often hear the hard drive stop and start sound, for example, when the computer is turned off, the system will automatically start from the disk (if previously stopped).
In fact, this is an automatic power saving feature provided by Windows 7 that, by default, Windows 7 automatically shuts down the hard disk if it is not read or written from the disk for a period of time, and then starts the disk again when read and write. So frequent shutdown startup, although not to the hard drive life will cause too much damage, but the start, stop the sound is not very comfortable ...
We can conveniently close this "awkward" feature. From the Control Panel, enter the hardware and sound → power Options window in turn. Select the power plan currently in use, the Change Schedule Settings button on the single hit side, go to the Edit Schedule Settings window, select Change advanced power settings, expand hard disk, and see that the default setting is to turn off the hard drive after 20 minutes. We can reset it, or simply set it to "never," and confirm that it will take effect.
Of course, if you're using Vista, you can do it the same way.
