The weather is hot, electricity is also more nervous, many friends in need to leave the computer for a period of time, usually choose to let the computer into the sleep state, on the one hand can save points, on the other hand can quickly awaken into working state. But a lot of friends in the setting Win7 of various sleep state, often encounter such as "sleepless", or can not find the sleep options and other strange problems. Today we are going to one by one to solve these problems, so that Win7 can "sleep well."

Solve Win7 "Can't sleep" phenomenon

You know, if nothing changes, installed Win7, the system's default standby state is called sleep mode. The computer in this state will cut off the power supply other than memory, the temporary data before sleep will be kept in memory, into a very power-saving state. The computer wakes up from this state for a few seconds, much faster than restarting, and the previous program environment is still maintained and can be put into work immediately.

Some students will find that their computer into the sleep state, even if nothing, it will somehow be awakened, this is how it? This is usually the "Wake Timer" feature in the mischief. If this function is opened, then, your computer as long as the start of some of the regular operation of the program, such as a regular update (this basic is open it), to that time the computer will be automatically awakened, so want to sleep the purpose of the computer can not be achieved. The way to turn off the wake timer is simple, from the Start menu, go to the control Panel → system and security → power options → change computer sleep time option, and then tap change advanced power settings to expand the Sleep option in the pop-up window and set the Allow Wake Timer option to Disabled ( As shown in Figure 1).

Disable wake-up timer to avoid wake up

Also some students will find their computer status and the previous description is not the same, should be in addition to the memory of the equipment are power off, but they found that the CPU fan, video card fans are still in turn, obviously did not enter the most energy-saving state, this is how it? This usually happens on the old computer, The reason is that the computer's BIOS settings are not correct. In the ACPI Suspend Type option of power Management Setup, if the S1 (POS) option is selected, the fan is still spinning, and "S3 (STR)" will not appear.

To retrieve the Hibernate option using the command line

A short time to leave the computer with sleep mode, a long time without the computer usually choose Hibernation mode. The system saves the temporary data on the hard drive, and then all the accessories are not powered up, as is the shutdown. When starting the computer, the system will first save the hard disk to use the data read into memory, you sleep before the state can immediately restore, faster than ordinary boot, can quickly enter the work environment.

Some students will find that their shutdown options do not hibernate this option, or have hibernate but the option is gray can not be clicked. What about this? Use the system's own POWERCFG components to diagnose it!

Click on the "Start" menu, enter "CMD" in the Search box and enter "Powercfg-a" in the pop-up window (Figure 2), the system will list the current system and no sleep state. If you do not have the following sleep status on this system, enter "Powercfg-h on" and return, and immediately you can find the Hibernate option on the Shutdown option (Figure 3). If you display "one or more legacy drivers installed," it means some drivers are in conflict with hibernation and need to update or uninstall the driver. If the system firmware does not support this standby state, it means your motherboard is too old to be replaced.

Enter "Powercfg-a" to list sleep states that are present and not available on the current system

The "powercfg-h on" command allows hidden hibernate options to display

In addition, it should be explained that hibernation mode is not good for many programs that need to be networked. The solution either exits these programs before the system sleeps, or restarts the networking programs by ignoring the errors that are ejected from these networking programs.

Open Win7-specific mixed sleep

Some students know that the Win7 system adds a mixed sleep state. This "mixed sleep" is when you sleep, and the data saved in memory is saved to your hard disk at the same time. So if there is no power off, the system will quickly recover from memory, and sleep mode, if the power, the system will be restored from the hard disk, and sleep, this is not afraid of the sudden power loss when sleeping.

In general, the desktop Win7 system is the default to open a mixed sleep, but the Win7 version of Everyone, and some of the classmate's Win7 did not open this mode. In addition, the Win7 of the notebook computer is also opened by default. How do you open it? As in previous changes to the Wake Timer option, go to "Change advanced power Settings", expand the Sleep option in the pop-up window, and set "Allow mixed sleep" to "open" (Figure 4). This allows you to choose "Sleep" in the "Shutdown" option to enter a mixed sleep state. In addition, if your hibernate function is turned off, this mixed sleep option will not appear in the settings and you will need to use the PowerCfg component to enable the Hibernate feature.

Set "Allow mixed sleep" to open

Download Madman without annoyance

Whether it's sleep or hibernation, the network is disconnected, and for the download madman, it is very desirable that the computer can be downloaded under power saving. Win7 default does not have this function, but we can modify the registry, enable the new "departure mode", to save as much as possible to download. This "leave mode" is similar to sleep, only in the absence mode, keep the file read and write and operation and network connection, and the video card and sound card and other unnecessary equipment is in the shutdown state, to achieve energy saving purposes.

First, go to the "Change Advanced Power Settings" option (in the same way), set the "hibernate after this time" time in the Sleep option to 0 (that is, never hibernate), and then set the "Turn off hard disk after this time" option in the hard disk options to 0. Click on the Start menu and enter "regedit" in the search box to enter the Registry Editor. Expand Hkey_local_machinesystemcurrentcontrolsetcontrolsession managerpower in turn, and create a new DWORD named "Awaymodeenabled" in the right pane (32-bit) value and assigns a value of "1" (hexadecimal) (Figure 5), which is restarted to take effect. Then click on the Win7 Start menu "Sleep" button, you can automatically enter the "Leave mode."
