At present, many enterprises and institutions have set up units within the LAN, the internal network are equipped with related servers (such as Web, FTP and other servers). Internal network users want all servers to use domain names to access, network administrators can use the way to build a DNS server to achieve.

Set up a DNS server on the internal network that allows users to enter the IP address of the internal network DNS server in their computed DNS server IP address. A forward, directional lookup zone is established on the DNS server of the internal network. The domain name server that does not register the Internet domain name in the internal network DNS server to establish the corresponding records, users can use this DNS server to resolve the domain name to the corresponding IP address, or to resolve the IP address to the corresponding domain name.

User access to registered Internet domain names, you can configure forwarders on internal DNS servers to forward domain names that cannot be resolved by internal DNS servers to queries on DNS servers with Internet.

Pre-trial Preparation:

First of all the local TCP/IP properties, such as (DNS IP to fill in the IP of this computer, the local IP must be fixed IP)

Install the DNS components.

Configuring a DNS server

1 Open the DNS console

2 Right-click "SERVER1" to select "Configure DNS Server"

3 The following figure----"Next"

3 Select "Create Forward and reverse lookup zone (for large network use)"-----"Next"

4 Select Yes, create forward lookup zone (recommended) (Y), click Next

5 Select Primary Area (P) and click Next

6 fill in the name of the zone (if the server in the network is to use the full domain name is "www.test.com", then fill in "test.com" in the Zone name)

7 Create a new zone file with the default value for the file name, click Next

8 in the pop-up window you can choose whether to accept dynamic updates, and if the security requirements are not high, you can choose "Allow unsecured and secure dynamic Updates" (A

The server is fully functional, out of the configuration forward (domain to IP

Address), you also configure the reverse (IP

Address to Domain name) parsing.

9 Select Yes, now create reverse lookup zone (Y), click Next

10 Select Primary Area (P) and click Next

11 enter "11.1.1." at "Network ID" and click "Next"

12 Reverse zone file name with default value, click Next

13 Select "Do not allow dynamic update (D)", click "Next"

14 in the pop-up window set up NDS forwarders, in the forwarders input "202.96.128.86" and "8.8.8.8" (in this DNS server can not resolve the domain name, the DNS server could be forwarded to other specified DNS server for resolution, such as forwarding to a DNS server for an ISP (Internet service provider))

15 waiting to collect root hints

16 Click "Finish"

17 If the following figure appears, click OK.

Two create host records and pointers

1 after the DNS server configuration is complete, the following picture is visible in the forward lookup zone of the DNS console.

2 Right Button "test.com", click "New Host"

3 Create a host record with the full domain name "dns.test.com". In the next screen, fill in the host name "DNS" with the IP address "11.1.1.1". You can also check the checkbox "Create related pointer (PTR) record", which is not checked here and will be added manually in the next figure.

4 in the reverse lookup zone, in the 11.1.1.x Subnet, right-click, select New Pointer (PTR)

5 Fill in the host IP number 11.1.1.1, and then in the browse to find test.com inside the host named DNS records, select it and determine.

6 after the completion and then press "OK" (this is to establish a reverse resolution, 11.1.1.1 point to the domain name dns.test.com)

7 Test. At the command prompt, type nslookup, and then test the domain name: dns.test.com and ip:11.1.1.1 all appear in the corresponding resolution screen, the following figure, the DNS server resolution succeeded.

The above is the basic configuration of the DNS server, in the client use this DNS server must be TCP/IP DNS server IP to the server. If you want to continue configuring multiple domains, you can also configure them like the following.

1 directly in the Forward lookup zone, right-click "New Zone"

2 Follow the prompts to complete the New Zone Wizard (the steps you create are similar to the one above, such as to refer to some of the steps above), for example: I created a forward field for "dada.com"

3 in this domain "new host", fill in the host name, and the corresponding IP.

4 when finished, you can see.

5 Create a new reverse lookup zone for this field, right-click---new zone.

6 complete. (Procedure is slightly, you can refer to the experimental steps to create a reverse lookup zone above)

7 new pointer.

8 Complete the new pointer.

9 when finished, you can see.

10 Test.
