More and more users are now using Windows XP because Windows XP is more functional and easy to use. But if your hardware facilities are not advanced enough, then her speed can not be really flattering. And certainly not just upgrading hardware to meet the "greedy" needs of XP? We can use a variety of software to improve the speed of Windows XP!

  Registry Optimization Scheme

   1. Enable CPU L2 CAHCE

Under Registry Hkcu_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\session Manager\Memory Management, create a new DWORD value:

Secondleveldatacache, modify this value to the size of your CPU's level two cache, and use the 10 value when filling in. You can change the CPU 2 level cache to 256KB by modifying the DWORD value "Secondleveldatacache", then restart the computer.

2, modify the disk cache Acceleration XP

Disk caching plays a critical role in running XP, but the default I/O paging file is more conservative. Therefore, for different memory, the use of different disk caching is a better practice.

To the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\iopagelocklimit, Modify its hexadecimal value (64m:1000;128m:4000;256m:10000;512m or greater: 40000) according to your memory.

   3, remove the menu delay

Removing the delay from sliding out of the menu can speed up XP to some extent. The key value to be modified is Hkey_current_usercontrol paneldesktop. Specifically to modify the key named "Menushowdelay", just change the value to 0. Of course, the changes will not take effect until you restart the computer.

   4. Specify Process Order

Press Control+alt+delete three keys at the same time, and then click the "Processes" tab to see a dialog box where you can see all the processes that are currently running. If you want to assign more process time to a program, such as 3D Studio Max, just right-click the process, move the mouse pointer down to set priority>, and then select which priority you want the program to be in. When I receive an email, I will set the 3DMAX to "standard", but when I leave the computer, I will elevate its priority to the highest "real time", so that the computer can focus more quickly on processing 3D actions.

   5. Remove reserved bandwidth from Windows XP Professional Edition

Due to the need of Professional Edition on the network, so set a 20% of the default reserved bandwidth, in fact, for individual users, these reserved bandwidth is useless, using the Group Policy Editor can cancel the retention of bandwidth.

In Start → run, enter gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy Editor. Find "Computer Configuration" → "Administrative Templates" → "Network" → "QoS Packet Scheduler", select "limit to retain bandwidth to the right", select "Properties" to open the picture, select "Disable" can be. This is very useful for users who use the modem--freeing up the bandwidth that is reserved to speed up browsing and downloading!

   6. Windows XP does not check scheduled tasks

Normally, when Windows XP is connected to another computer, it will check all scheduled tasks on the other side of the machine, and this process will keep you waiting for 30 seconds, which is really annoying. Let's get this process out of the way: Find in the registry
Hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\
Remotecomputer\namespace. In this case, there should be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} key. Just delete it, restart the computer, Windows will no longer check the scheduled task, the speed is significantly improved!

   optimization scheme of driver program

1, if the Intel 8XX chipset, be sure to install the Intel Application Accelerator, after installation system optimization is obvious. This item can be downloaded to the Intel official website.

2. If a non-Intel chipset is a motherboard, it is essential to install the appropriate patch, such as via the 4in1 program, and so on.

3, try to use the WHL certified driver. This driver is certified by the Microsoft Hardware Lab and has great advantages in stability and compatibility.
   Other optimization scenarios

   1, start the acceleration

Although Windows XP starts faster than Windows 98, there is still a lot of acceleration. To the Microsoft site to download Bootvis.exe file, start it, select the menu inside the trace→optimize system, this time the system will be prompted to reboot, choose to start, restart login after nothing move, after a while will automatically pop-up a dialog box, The dialog box is written on the system analysis and other tips, you do not do anything, until the prompt analysis is complete, so the start speed is significantly improved.

  2. Remove unnecessary service

After each Windows XP startup, a number of services were started, some of which were useless for many users and consumed memory, so let's look at what services need to be turned off.

Click "Start" → "Run" and enter the command "Services.msc" to open the Services dialog box (Note: You must be logged on as an administrator or Administrators group member to complete this procedure.) If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings can also prevent you from completing this step. )

Clipbook Server (folder servers): This service allows other users on your network to see your folders. Here I would strongly recommend that you change it to manual startup and then use other programs to post information on your network.

Messenger (message): Sends and receives information on the network. If you turn off the alerter, you can safely change it to manually boot.

Printer Spooler (Print spooler): If you do not configure a printer, it is recommended to manually start or simply close it.

Error Reporting Service (bug report): Services and applications provide error reporting when running in a non-standard environment. It is recommended to start manually instead.
Fast User Switching compatibility (quick Subscriber switching compatibility): It is recommended that you start manually instead.

Automatic Updates (Automatic Update): This feature has been said before, where you can manually start.

NET Logon (network registration): Handles network security functions like registration information. You can start it manually instead.

Network DDE and Network DDE DSDM (Dynamic Data exchange): Unless you are ready to share your office on the Internet, you should start it manually instead. Note: This is different from using Office in the usual business settings (if you need DDE, you will know).

NT LM security Support (nt LM secure support Provider): Provides security protection in network applications. It is recommended to start manually instead.

Remote Desktop help Session Manager (TelePresence): It is recommended that you manually start instead.

Remote Registry: Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer. It is recommended to start manually instead.

Task Scheduler: Enables users to configure and develop an automated task schedule on this computer, which is scheduled for weekly defragmentation, and so on. Unless you're too lazy to even open a computer. It is recommended to manually start.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (uninterruptible): Used to manage your ups. If you do not have ups, change it manually or simply close it.

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) (Windows Images Acquisition): Provides image capture for scanners and cameras, and if you do not have them, it is recommended to manually start or simply close it.

3, using a fixed virtual cache

It is recommended to set the maximum and minimum values to 382M regardless of the size of your physical memory.

4, to ensure that memory use priority for the program, CPU planning priority for the program

Open the System property first, then select the Advanced tab, and click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" bar. Open the Performance Options dialog box, open the Advanced tab, select Programs in the Processor Plan column, select programs on the Memory Usage column, and then click OK to exit.
   5, clear the pre-read files

When XP is used for a period of time, the files in the Prefetch folder become large, and there are dead-chain files, which slows down the system time. It is recommended that these files be deleted periodically (c:\windows\prefetch).

6, reduce disk scan wait time

In DOS, type "chkntfs/t:0", where "0" indicates that the wait time is 0 seconds.

   7. Turn off the disk index

XP records all files for quick Search, and if you don't find files frequently, you can turn it off. To do this: open My Computer, right-click the drive, select Properties, and Cancel "use the index to quickly find files."
