Wireless GSM telephony in the emulator
The simulator supports external radio communication, and external radio communication provides wireless communication test capability on the Development workstation. The following process describes how to use external radio communication to implement data and voice communication in the simulator:
1. Connect A Wavecom wmod2b external GSM module to a COM port on the Development workstation by using the instructions provided by the radio. The radio can be connected to the comport 1 to 4, as long as the selected comport is not occupied. (For more information about this module, see the http://www.wavecom.com ).
2. Connect the handheld device and insert the SIM card.
3. Use the emulator configuration dialog box in platman to set the downloaded image to an active image.
4. Set the simulated serial port to the actual port connected by the handheld device:
A) In Embedded Visual C ++, select the Tools menu and clickConfigure platform manager; In Embedded Visual Basic, select the Tools menu and clickRemote toolsAnd then clickConfigure platform manager.
B) In the device list, selectSmartphone emulatorAnd then clickProperties.
C) ClickConfigure(InStartup ServerDrop-down list box ).
D) In the drop-down list boxSerial Port 2Next, select the COM port connected by the external RF module.
E) ClickOK, DisableEmulation configuration settingsDialog box.
F) ClickOK, DisableDevice PropertiesDialog box.
G) ClickOK, DisableWindows CE platform Manager ConfigurationDialog box.
Now the simulator should be able to complete data and voice communication.
