Assume that you have written a 300-page document with 100 illustrations, and the illustrations have been labeled as "Figure 1" and "Figure 2. At this time, I suddenly found that I want to modify the image. I still inserted a picture between the two images. You should have thought about how to change the image label?
Another articleArticleIf there are many tables in it. Create an index for all tables at the end of the article. Click the index to locate the corresponding table immediately. How can this problem be solved? You can directly create an index manually. However, if the document is to be modified later and the table and page number change, will this work be re-submitted?
Although word simplifies the processing of documents, if you are not familiar with word, you may still do a lot of repetitive work. Now you know the word question note and cross-reference functions to help you solve the above problems. Word 2007 is used as an example.
Insert table, image, and other elements
In many documents, you need to display the corresponding labels and some brief descriptions after inserting images or tables. For example:
At this time, the most stupid way is to insert an image or table, start another line, set the same alignment as the image or table, and then manually enter all information. Try this:
After inserting an image into a document, right-click the image and select insert question note. Then you can see the page shown.
First, the "Question note" column displays the inserted question note content. The "tag" drop-down menu can be used to select the type of question note. For example, if an image is inserted, you can select "chart" or "table" and "formula" based on the inserted content type ". If you think that the types of tags that come with word are not appropriate, click the "Create tag" button to create the tags that you need. Then, you can select the place where the question is displayed in the "location" drop-down menu. The optional location is the top or bottom of the project. You can select the location based on Century requirements. After the above simple settings, click "OK", word will automatically create a question note for us. To insert a question note to a table, select the entire table and right-click the table.
Why? This is more troublesome than manual input. What is necessary? This is actually the first example mentioned above. If you create a short document with no more than 10 pages, there are no illustrations or few illustrations, and you do not need to do so. However, if there are hundreds of illustrations, if you need to add images to the two images in the future, as long as all the icons are marked by the question note method, the numbers of the newly inserted images and the subsequent images are automatically updated. That is to say, if an image is inserted before "Figure 10", the original "Figure 10" will automatically change to "Figure 11", and the subsequent images will be automatically updated.
Cross-reference of Elements
If I need to mention a specific content when writing a document, for example, "if you want to learn more about XXX, please refer to section XXX on page X of this Article ", in this case, you can use the cross-reference function for convenience. Take the book I am writing as an example. If Windows Security Center is mentioned in introducing Windows security, then normally, I should add a "For details about the security center, please refer to section XXX on page X of this book ". Because the number of pages and segments in each part of the manuscript may change with editing, manual input is the most stupid method. In this case, cross-reference can be used. Enter "about security center details" in the body, click "insert" in Word 2007, and then click "cross reference, the page shown is displayed.
Because I want to reference the titles and pages of other paragraphs in this document, first select "title" from the "reference type" drop-down menu ", all titles of the book will appear in the following list (This list applies only to structured titles created through styles ). Next, because the page number of referenced content needs to be displayed first, select "page number" in the "reference content" drop-down menu and insert a cross reference. Then, enter a "page" and insert a cross reference with the title text or other content. In this way, the referenced content becomes as follows:
Pay attention to the gray background in the figure. This is the cross-referenced "domain ". The content changes with the document structure. For example, when inserting this reference, the content of the security center section is on the 36 pages of the document, and the chapter number and name are "1.4 security center ", however, after editing this part of content, it is placed on 46 pages of the document, and the chapter number and name are changed to "1.5 Windows security center ", all the cross-referenced pages and chapter names inserted in this way will automatically change. Alternatively, you can right-click the gray areas and select "Update domain" to Force Manual updates.
Create a chart directory
Now that the document has been compiled, we also need to list all the images, tables, or other contents in the document at the end of the document to facilitate readers to quickly locate them, if you have added question notes for your images or tables according to the method described above, it is easy to solve the problem.
Place the mouse insertion point at the location where you want to create an image or table directory. Open the reference toolbar in word2007 and click the insert chart directory button. Then you can see the displayed dialog box.
first, select the question note corresponding to the content of the index you want to create from the "Question note tag" drop-down menu, such as "chart" and "Graph ", or other questions you insert according to the above method, select other options, and click OK.
