Yes, you're not mistaken! Ubuntu MATE 14.04 LTS is now released

Traditional desktop fans can now cheer, Ubuntu Mate's first long-term support version is now released, download it right away!

This community product uses the GNOME2-based mate desktop environment, which continues to be actively developed and promoted. Ubuntu MATE 14.04 Lts follows the release of Ubuntu 14.10 released last month.

Ubuntu mate 14.04 Lts should be called Ubuntu mate 14.11 Lts exactly. As the project leader Martin Wimpress noted: Not just because he was released in November, but also because it mixes 14.04 and 14.10 codes.

"This version is unusual, although it is based on Ubuntu MATE 14.10 but adds a lot of new features and fixes a lot of bugs. Although this is a 14.04 version, but you can think of it as a newer version than the 14.10 ... "

Like other Community products, Ubuntu MATE 14.04 will support at least the next three years, but it should also get critical security updates from upstream.

The changes compared to 14.10 include:

• Updated Themes and Wallpapers
• Added two new applications: Mate Menu and mate Tweak
• Improve accessibility features
• VLC replaces the Totem video player
• Updated several MATE table breads
