Erlang is a small, concurrency-enabled programming language developed by Ericsson, often used as a http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/36038.html "> system programming language for a large concurrency-tolerant distributed system."

Erlang is a programming language for building large, scalable, soft real-time systems with high availability requirements. Other features include telecommunications, banking, E-commerce, computer telephony, and instant messaging. The Erlang operating system supports built-in parallelism, distribution, and fault tolerance.
