[Abstract] Cloud technology will simplify, transform business and drive innovation. Author: Hurd (Mark v. Hurd), chief executive of Oracle, the world's largest enterprise software company. (Originally published in LinkedIn) the world is changing dramatically, and modern technologies, such as social, mobile, cloud, and large data, are also radically changing the way we live, learn, work, and experience the world around us. In fact, this is not a breaking news, and I want to stress this here because many executives do not understand how quickly these changes have occurred, or how deeply they have undermined traditional business processes and patterns. Consumers and corporate customers are becoming increasingly complex and demanding, and social-mobile technology is driving them to spend more and more. So the business leaders who want to magically manipulate these modern tools and applications with their 20-year-old IT systems are probably disappointed. But strictly speaking, I think you will have an interest in the ideas of these world-class business-technology leaders on some key issues. At the recent Oracle Global Conference in San Francisco, I had the privilege of meeting with it executives from world-class technology companies, including Dunnhumby, FedEx, GE, Intel, Pearson, P&g, Walgreens and Xerox. These executives share the inevitable challenges they face as CIOs and other executive positions, as well as the experience they have to deal with. These companies have or have used outdated applications that were built and installed before the advent of the Internet, cloud technology, social networking, mobile technology and even search technologies. They must find ways to upgrade these outdated, inflexible applications, while keeping the business running properly. As I spoke to the world leaders at the beginning of the Oracle Global Congress, companies must ensure that they operate properly when they upgrade their outdated applications, and must ensure that they are properly purchased, sold, and accepted, as there is no intermission and no restart of business operations. So how do you set standards, how to make real-time decisions using modern technologies such as mobile, social, and so on? How do you do this in the context of your current status? If these challenges are not enough, today's business-technology leaders must also reduce the overall cost of the IT industry in achieving these goals. In short, all this makes me believe that the chief technology officer is the hardest job of any kind of executive. The chief information chief is taught by everyone, burdened by the tremendous pressure exerted by the leaders of the business unit, and incredibly focused by suppliers and businesses. CEOs have high hopes for them and need constant innovation to keep pace with the world today; they are expected to integrate everything together into a powerful strategy to drive the company forward. The following CIOs have participated in Oracle's Global Congress, and let us share their great insights: 1. Tim Terrio (Tim theriault): Drugstore chain operator woLegrin, chief executive officer, senior vice president of information, innovation, and improvement I think CIOs have a daunting ability to help companies grow through organic combinations or mergers. I think this integration capability can be a seamless way to make our work easier and better because we don't want to be an enterprise connecting objects. The more we use cloud technology and the more things that are already tightly integrated, the better the solution will be, and the lower the cost. 2. Jamie Miller: GM Chief Information Officer, Senior vice president, another factor that affects it and the business we are running is simplifying the problem ... We like SaaS because our company is complex and huge, but SaaS allows us to standardize on a large scale in a faster way. So let's get out of the debate about how to define the process and get into a world with countless SaaS solutions ... I think it's a space for Oracle and other companies to solve a lot of problems that we can't imagine today. That's why we're turning to cloud technology, whether it's infrastructure, software or anything else, and it's a very attractive way for us over the next 5-10 years. 3. Philip Passerigny (Filippo Passerini): Chief information officer of cleanliness company, president of global Business Services I believe we are now in a world where the tempo is very fast, very complex, and full of uncertainty. If you look at all trends, social interactions, graphs, and economics, you'll see that the business situation in the past is interesting, but it doesn't add much value. So over the past few years, we have taken the strategy of real time business. This approach can predict what happens and help companies respond quickly, not weeks later. In view of this, we invest in analytical collation with large data. We have created an environment called the "Business Ball", which is surrounded by large screens of real-time data, giving people an immersive feel. Business teams can focus and make decisions quickly. So the idea is to speed up the process of making decisions and make decisions better. To be honest, Mark makes us very different, and I think it's less personal, and more business-targeted solutions. The strategy I see is cloud technology, and now it's all in the cloud, and I think Mark is the same because it allows us to get better value in a simple environment. 4. Yell Cosses (Yael cosset): Retail data analysis company Dunnhumby chief information officer you need an extensible technology platform that can grow with you and provide you with consumer services. Cloud technologies and platforms will play an important role in the services we provide. We help brand and retailer partners to deal with more and more customers, and these customers have their own data volume is exploding. From a quantity standpoint, digital and social, mobile channel generated data has become a major challenge. The second aspect of this challenge is that consumers want to be more personalized, not only in the physical environment and in real-world stores, but also in the digital realm. 5. Albert Hill (Albert Hitchcock): Pearson chief Information Officer One of the things we're doing right now actually has the dual purpose of finding ways to improve the user experience while implementing it simplification. And just getting into an enterprise resource planning system (ERP) means you get into the whole company's real information system, meaning we can get rid of a lot of legacy IT systems. In this process, when describing our customers again, we want to get a holistic view of user data, which means that the company will have only one CRM environment. Once we achieve this goal, we can track customers or learn about their life cycle through their communication cycles with Pearson, which will give us a deep understanding of our customers from birth to death. By building a single cloud platform, we can get all the applications and service information that is running around the world. This will not only provide us with more effective results, but also improve security. We can manage data and privacy in different countries. 6. Steve Littel (Steve Little): Xerox Chief Information Officer we understand that a global human resource system is emerging, but we are still at the beginning of the journey ... This system is merging with our human resources community to truly understand that the system is not just a tool, but also a partner in the process we are executing, whose true value lies in our standardized management on a global basis ... To this end, we chose the HCM product, which also uses cloud technology. This is an interesting dynamic change for a traditional big company that runs a variety of products. We have talent management cloud service provider Taleo, we are Oracle Enterprise Resource planning system users, for us to implement it is very easy, we are also looking for integration. Taleo is actually a cloud service, so we seek to integrate the various elements to help us drive the value we recognize. 7. Rob Carter (Rob Carter): FedEx Chief Information Officer, executive vice president The modern footprint requires us to develop technologies in a new way and use them in a new way. The development of infrastructure services, platform services and commercial services is completely different from the traditional application of construction. FedEx, for example, has invested heavily in the infrastructure to develop modular technologies that allow us to better utilize the power of computers, modular platforms, and even create modular software services within our own cloud services, while applying them to public cloud services. 8. Kim Stevenson (Kim Stevenson): Intel Corporation Chief Information officer, senior vice President I think we are at the beginning of a huge shift, I have worked in this industry for many years, which may be the biggest change I have ever encountered. It is the cumulative value of social, mobile, analytical, and cloud technology, but as we focus on the enterpriseProductivity, we can hand over a large amount of traditional enterprise workloads to cloud technology and digest them through SaaS cloud applications. This can change the IT industry, enhance its creative power, and make our company's products and services smarter. Now, almost everything is becoming smarter and more connected. If you work in a non tech company, the best person in the company is the IT team. I want to thank the 8 big clients for their insights and comments, and they let me share how cloud technology can help them simplify, transform their business and innovate their wisdom, so you could survive in this exciting new world.
