Phoronix.com recently made a vertical comparison of the Linux versions over the last two years, mainly examining their performance changes in LINUXKVM virtualization, including 8.04.4LTS, 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04.1LTS, 10.10.

The original system is a Ubuntu10.1064-bit version, installing the KVM virtualization environment and loading the above six version systems, each allocating 30GB hard disk space, 2GB memory space and all four processor cores.

In the Apachae test, the 9.10 version is obviously the fastest, which should thank the file system from the EXT3 to the EXT4, but with EXT4 maturity and integrity of the in-depth improvement of the 10.04.1 performance of a small decline, 10.10 again fell sharply, only slightly more than 8.04/ 8.10.
