After installing Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), Windows Defender will automatically shut down because MSE already includes Defender's features. The two do not coexist, of course, for the average user, after weighing MSE is the best choice.
"If you use MSE, you no longer need Windows Defender, and when you download MSE, it automatically shuts down (and does not uninstall) Windows Defender, because you You do not need two softwares on the same machine to do the same job. "
If you uninstall MSE, then Windows Defender will return to normal, to provide your computer security. Microsoft confirmed that both MSE 1.0 and the recently released MSE 2.0 Beta shut down Windows Defender automatically. If Windows Defender is in the system startup, it is advisable to remove it from the startup:
- Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
- After clicking the "Enabled" tab, locate Windows Defender and remove the check in front of it.
- Confirm the problem after pressing "OK" and restarting the computer.
