NSS-PAM-LDAPD is a Name Service switching module (NSS) and a plug-in verification module. It uses an LDAP server for http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/14031.html "> identity management, allowing your LDAP server to provide user accounts, groups, host names, aliases, and network user groups, and you can etc flat file or NIS to obtain any additional information and allow authentication to an LDAP server.

NSS-PAM-LDAPD uses the NSS and Pam modules to delegate a specialized service (NSLCD) to query the LDAP server for persistent connections, authentication, property conversions, and so on.

The NSS module was initially a branch of the NSS_LDAP structural design improvement. The main features of NSS-PAM-LDAPD include:

Lightweight and simple NSS and Pam Library
Avoid loading LDAP and SSL libraries in all Programs
Separation between Nss,pam and LDAP code
Fewer connections to the LDAP server
