★How to organize Disk Partitions

Q: I have installed Windows 98/XP dual systems. I heard that disk fragmentation is fast in Windows XP, but I still heard that it is not very thorough, should I tidy up the hard disk under Windows 98? Or is it installed in Windows XP?

A: I suggest you sort out the partitions in Windows 98 and in Windows XP. Because the defragmentation program of each system is customized according to the actual needs of the system. If you organize Windows XP system partitions under Windows 98, the related files of Windows XP may be disordered or damaged, and the Windows XP system may be abnormal. Therefore, it is better not to perform cross-system fragmentation.

★Use of chkdsk Tool

Q: The Windows XP operating system is used. A prompt is displayed on the task bar at the latest. The file or directory \ winodws \ debug \ usermode \ userenv. log is damaged and cannot be read. Run the chkdsk tool ." How can I run the chkdsk tool as prompted?

A: chkdsk is a command used by the system to check the current status of a disk. It can be started to display the disk status, memory status, and the number of specified files in the specified path. Select Start> Run and enter chkdsk and press enter to start chkdsk. It automatically verifies the file and converts the lost link to a file.

★An error occurred while installing longhorn.

Q: My current system is Windows XP. When I install windowslonghorn halfway through, the system prompts "Can 'teditboot. ini ", why is this happening? How can we solve this problem before normal installation?

A: The error message indicates that you have failed to edit the boot. ini file. You can solve the problem as follows: Open "my computer" under Windows XP, select "Tools> Folder Options> View", and set to display all hidden files and files protected by the system, then find boot. INI file, remove its read-only attribute, and replace it with the archive attribute. Reinstallation will not cause errors.

★Disable the Windows logo key

There is a Windows logo key on the standard Windows keyboard (that is, the key with a window pattern). It works with other keys to complete some shortcut operations for Windows, for example, "Windows logo key + D" can immediately display the desktop, "Windows logo key + L" can quickly lock the computer (for Windows XP), etc, it provides us with a quicker way to use computers.

However, some users do not like the Windows logo key. You can disable the Windows logo key by modifying the registry: Open the Registry Editor and expand the [hkey_local_machinesystemcurrentcontrolsetcontrolkeyboardlayout] branch in sequence, find or create a "REG_BINARY (Binary)" subitem named "scancodemap" in the right window, double-click the subitem, set its key value to "000000000000000000000300000000005be000005ce000000000", and exit the Registry Editor, after you restart your computer, you will find that the Windows logo key has no effect.

★Making driver signatures no longer annoying

In Windows/XP, when we install the driver of the device, the system will check whether the driver has passed Microsoft's signature authentication. If it fails, the system will pop up a warning dialog box asking if you want to continue to install the driver. As a matter of fact, many drivers have no problems, but they have not been certified by Microsoft. Therefore, this dialog box will waste a lot of time. Next, we will close this nasty warning box: Right-click my computer on the desktop, select the "properties" command to open the "System Properties" dialog box, and switch to the "hardware" tab.

Click the "Driver signature" button, and then select the "Ignore" option in the pop-up dialog box, that is, "Install software, do not ask for my consent ", make sure that the check box before the "apply this operation as the default system value" option is selected, and the check box takes effect after "OK" is exited. Later, when we install the driver, we can quickly complete the process. Windows/XP will no longer display a warning dialog box!

★Hide some file extensions

In resource manager, Click Tools> Folder Options. You can select hide extensions of known file types to hide the extensions of all files. However, if you only want to hide some file extensions, you also need to use the Registry Editor: click "Start> Run", type "Regedit", Press enter, and expand the [hkey_classes_root] branch in the Registry Editor, find and expand the file extension to be hidden, and create a new string value "nevershowext" in the window on the right. After you exit the Registry Editor and restart the computer, the extension name of this type of file will be automatically hidden.

★Resume Download Dialog Box

Q: When I downloaded zip, EXE, rar, and other files in the past, the browser will prompt me whether to save or open them directly, but now I can click it to automatically download to a temporary folder, then we opened it directly with the ZIP or RAR software! There is no choice. How can I restore the previous "Save as" dialog box?

A: Many canceled the "always ask before opening this type of file" check box on the dialog box, causing the "Save as" dialog box to disappear. At this time, you only need to change the default operation method of the downloaded file type to restore.

The following uses the rarfile as an example to describe how to restore the default operation method. Open "my computer", select "Tools> Folder Options> file type", find the rarfile project in the "registered file type" list, and select the project, click the edit button. Note the following four check boxes: "download and confirm to open". Select the check box and click OK to exit. After that, when you download the ZIP file again, the browser will display the "File Download" prompt dialog box again.

★Add five input methods to the input method list

Q: I have installed windows, but it is not automatically added to the input method list. You must start it in the Start menu every time you use it. How can I add it to the input list in the lower right corner?

A: After the installation is complete, click "right-click> Properties" on the input method icon. The input method settings window is displayed. Select "add". Drag the slider to find the option and click "OK. This method does not necessarily solve the problem, and some cannot be found in the list. We recommend that you use the five-stroke input method provided by Office2000, which can be found in the msime directory of the first disk.
