A recent venture, named Vinted, has won 27 million of billions of dollars in funding from the Insight venture, which is a second-hand clothing exchange for female users and an online market to buy and sell. A year ago, they had absolutely no access to the mobile end, but now the app traffic has accounted for 50% of the total.
We've redesigned the mobile apps for vinted to achieve a 170% increase in usage, and here are the 9 lessons we've learned in this process:
1. Consider clear priorities for the information to be displayed
If only one piece of advice could be given, it would be this one. For example, we redesigned the Vinted user page, because this product is about clothing and fashion, so the most important information in the user information is clothing, to put them in the front. Other information is to be simplified. This strengthens the user experience, allows the user to focus on the main content, and the more users focus on, the more likely they are to trade.
2. Trade button to always on the screen display above
The trading button should always stay within the visible range of the screen, even designed to be red or green eye-catching colors, do not exaggerate to interfere with the user experience is good. The previous design directly placed the trading button underneath the product picture, and we added the button to the toolbar, so that users can click on the top of the list at any time when browsing the page.
3. Easy access to content, simple steps
We've taken this into consideration when redesigning the product catalog, but this proposal can actually be done everywhere. Users don't care how cleverly your catalog is designed, they just want to find the product more simply. The previously vinted directory has 6 levels and is now reduced to 2 levels.
4. In the mobile end to use chat to communicate the way
The way Mail is communicated to the mobile end, it is not appropriate, chat will be more natural. For E-commerce sites, it is necessary for businesses to communicate with users, which can reduce transaction time.
5. Registration page should be short
When you see a very long registration page, users will be tired and unbearable. Do not ask too many questions when registering, the user pulls in to say first.
6. Content first, describe the second
We find that the more content there is in the application, the more transactions we have. So to encourage users to upload their own things, you can upload a picture, and then to describe, rather than the reverse of the program.
7. For iOS applications, the left side is the navigation, the right side is the transaction
For iOS app navigation buttons always appear in the upper left corner, this is already used. But on the right side of the design, do not accumulate a lot of functions, to be as simple and clear as possible.
8. Hearts are better than stars
If your application now allows users to hit stars for their favorite things, then change the heart chart. This change has increased the use of this function by 10 times times. In fact, we learned this experience from Airbnb.
9. Write a document for the design process
vinted application will have more than 90 pages, how to fully communicate these content, need a good document system. Good design also requires documentation help.
In short, after the redesign, the application of the various indicators have been significantly improved. The Android version increased by 163%, the download increased by 74%, and the total number of downloads increased 2 million times in a year.
