An overview of Action script dictionaries
This dictionary describes the syntax and usage of the action script elements in Macromedia Flash MX 2004 and Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004. To use the example in the script, copy the sample code in this dictionary and paste it into the Script pane or the external script file. This dictionary lists all action script elements, including operators, keywords, statements, actions, properties, functions, classes, and methods. For an overview of all dictionary entries, see the contents of the dictionary; to find an operation symbol or method whose class is unknown, you can start with the table in this section. For information about components, see Working with components.
There are two types of entries in this dictionary:
Individual entries that represent operators, keywords, functions, variables, properties, methods, and statements
Class entry that provides general information about the built-in class
The information in the sample entry is used to interpret the structures and conventions used in these types of entries.

The following example dictionary entry explains the conventions for all action script elements except classes.

Finally, if an element is supported only in Action Script 2.0, this information is also indicated in that section.
