In the past, all the virtual machines used were VMWare, mainly because Microsoft's Virtual PC was really poor in functionality. However, with the launch of windows2008r2, Microsoft also launched hyper-V virtual machine servers in a very high profile and made great efforts to publicize them. I recently tried hyper-V to study Virtual Machine content. The final conclusion is: it needs to be improved.
In fact, hyper-V's technical architecture should be relatively advanced. The hypervisor Based on type1 makes full use of the hardware capabilities, at the same time, the multi-core approach also makes the virtual machine operating system more efficient. However, we are afraid to compare everything. In comparison, the vmwarevm has more comprehensive functions than hyper-v.
For example, for peripheral device support, at least the current virtual machines in hyper-V do not support audio drivers or USB drivers. There are also few types of Virtual Hardware that can be added, including SCSI and nic devices.
So in general, the current hyper-V is more suitable for virtual server setup than for individual users.
