Telephone adapter and Broadband Router
Not long ago, Linksys launched two new Internet phone products. One is a analog phone adapter, which has two phone jacks that provide VoIP services, and can be used by any common home phone. Most users want to share Internet connections with their computers at the same time. If a user already has a vro, the analog telephone adapter can connect their phone to VoIP to provide services; otherwise, they will need a Broadband Router with a telephone port supporting the VoIP service.
Another product is Linksys Broadband Router. It has two phone jacks for VoIP services, and three home computers can be connected to Cable or DSL Internet at the same time ).
Both products allow individual users to use their existing telephone lines to call or send faxes over the Internet. Both the telephone adapter and Broadband Router can convert voice calls into digital groups capable of high-speed connection and transmission, it is equivalent to the role of the modem and router in providing email services. Both of them can connect existing phones to the Internet through broadband connection, thus implementing the VoIP service.
Use a telephone adapter and a Broadband Router to provide the VoIP service and connect to the PC, as shown in figure 1 and figure 2.
Promotion issues and Operation Services
Currently, the two products of Linksys have not been sold in China, so they cannot determine their domestic sales prices. In fact, Linksys is not a pioneer in this regard. Other vendors dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises and household network products have already launched similar products.
However, in China, there is no operator to provide such services, so there are obstacles in the promotion of such products of network manufacturers.
The first VoIP service provider to provide Linksys to customers is Vonage. Vonage has over 0.2 million users, leading the Internet telephone service field. The cost of VoIP is much lower than that of traditional telephone services. In addition, the Internet telephone service provided by Vonage and other service providers is free of charge. Many traditional telephone companies charge fees, for example, voice mail, incoming call display, call waiting, call transfer, and third-party calls.
In addition, because VoIP uses digital networks and Internet technologies, some functions that traditional telephone services cannot implement can be provided. For example, Vonage provides virtual area numbers and virtual phone numbers, allowing customers to obtain phone numbers irrelevant to their location. Customers can carry their phone adapters with them, or use other adapters from different locations to enjoy the telephone service in any location with broadband connections. Because VoIP is based on IP addresses, it can support other products and services, such as video conferencing, dual-mode Wi-Fi/cellular phones, and instant messaging.
Cannot completely replace existing telephone services
VoIP is generally considered a complementary telephone service. It has some disadvantages, for example, it cannot be used during power outages. However, because VoIP has the quality of telephone connection, it must be applied to individual users who are eager to reduce telephone fees. The VoIP telephone service still has some other shortcomings. For example, it cannot support the positioning mechanism of some 911 emergency systems, so it is difficult for the operator to automatically find the location of a phone, this is very similar to a cellular phone.
