Threshold Voltage Model

The Vth has three operating areas for device operation:

Vg>>vth in strong inversion region, drift current is dominant.

Vg<<vth in weak inversion region, diffusion current is dominant.

Vg≈vth in moderate inversion, both drift and diffusion current is important.

Drift is the movement of the electric field, and diffusion is driven by the concentration difference.
