Over the past 10 years, the 21 st century has witnessed the upsurge of Enterprise Informatization. Over the past 10 years, enterprises have invested heavily in IT system construction, but after large-scale IT system construction and the post-ERP era, what should enterprises pay attention? Business Data governance will be the future direction.
Enterprises should focus on how to manage massive enterprise data assets and how to ensure secure storage and timely use of such data. The data is precious and also very delicate. Opportunities in data are not equal to one another. Likewise, there is a crisis in data. Data governance will be the responsibility of enterprises and a new comprehensive discipline.
What is data governance? It refers to the process of transforming from fragmented data to unified primary data, and from non-organizational and process governance to comprehensive data governance, it is still a well-organized process to process master data in disorder.
What problems do enterprises face at the data governance level?
1. Incomplete master data: the key ID is missing or the number of digits is obviously insufficient. The code of some auxiliary information is not standard or even text. The retention period of historical data is inconsistent;
2. Data inconsistency: Data in the associated business system is not synchronized; data definition standards for different systems to describe the same business problem are different;
3. Data logic error: violation of business rules; or violation of data defined by Business Code;
4. data redundancy: Record duplicate data, invalid key values, and empty key data.
What are the consequences of wrong data? First, IT investment needs to be repeatedly invested in data integration to solve data problems. Second, wrong or incomplete data causes the Bi system to fail to take advantage of or even fail; third, at least 1/4 of the time is wasted on identifying data accuracy. Fourth, indirect losses caused by failure to predict business opportunities are more incalculable.
Based on the above problems, enterprises urgently need a unified primary data management platform and a sound primary data management mechanism to "manage all business data in a unified manner ", this platform and management mechanism should have the following features:
1. Collection of master data of various subsystems to a single and shared master data management database;
2. This primary data management database is set based on a unified business statement and management cycle;
3. Eliminate the need to exchange various types of primary data between different tools;
4. Provides a development architecture that allows other systems (such as Bi) to perform analysis conveniently.
Only when enterprises fix the data and solve the data problems can they make the enterprise informatization work closer to the business and show the value of IT systems.
