Installing packages with Yum is quick and easy, with several software libraries from CentOS and other Third-party developers with software components outside of the default repositories of base and updates to meet your needs, which have varying degrees of stability within the CentOS community, Support and cooperation.
Here are a few examples of software libraries:
1. Rpmforge
This software library is primarily maintained by DAG, providing more than 10,000 CentOS components, including MPlayer, Xmms-mp3, and other popular media tools. This software library is stable and secure.
The default Rpmforge software library does not replace any CentOS basic components. Some components used to do this, but are now included in a standalone Rpmforge-extras, default-deactivated software library.
