There is no authoritative definition of collaborative design. A general idea is that two or more design subjects (or experts) have a certain degree of information interaction and mutual collaboration mechanism to accomplish a design goal, this design goal is achieved with different design tasks.

Collaborative Design has the following features:

1. Multi-subjectivity means that two or more design experts participate in the design. These design experts are usually independent of each other and have their own domain knowledge, experience and certain problem solving capabilities.
