Internet statistics company ComScore released the latest website ranking in February on Tuesday. For the first time, the company launched a user stickiness ranking based on the average number of visits per user per month. As a result, the top three websites in Asia are China's Tencent and rising websites.
ComScore said that the statistics show that websites with the most independent visitors are not websites with the highest user stickiness. The company said their "user stickiness" standard is the average number of visits to the same website each month for each user.
According to this standard, the NHN website in South Korea, with the highest user stickiness in the world, is visited by every user for 33 times per month. The second place is China's Tencent network, which visits times a month. The third place is China's rising website, which visits times a month. Google ranks fourth, with 24 visits each month. At the end of the list were the Microsoft website and the US social network website Facebook, both of which were 22 times, and Yahoo only had 21 times.
Bob Ivins, head of ComScore's European business, said the number of independent visitors may represent the popularity of a website. However, the average number of visits per user indicates how important the website is to the lives of netizens.
