Connect a terminal to a Cisco Router

The following describes how to connect to a Cisco 2500 series router. In this section, assume that the router to be connected has received a basic configuration.
Figure 1-6 shows the connection work that needs to be done after 2 5 0 1. Each vro has a console connection toolbox, including a Black r j-4 5 cable and a set of connectors. To connect to A Wy s e or other standard a s c I terminal as the console, follow these steps:
1) connect the r j-4 5 cable to the Console port behind the router.
2) connect the 2 5-pin attachment labeled with t e r m I n a l to the other end of the R J-4 5 cable.
3) connect a public-to-public conversion header to the 2-5-pin connector.
4) connect the 2-5-pin attachment to the Wy s e port.

The plug-in converter is required because many a s c I terminal providers only provide the parent connector on their terminals.
If you want to connect the router to a p c machine and run a terminal simulation program, it is easy to do so. Most p c machines have a 9-pin serial port connector, so you only need to connect the 9-pin serial port connector to the r j-4 5 cable, connect the vro Console port to the serial port of the p c host. Set your terminal simulation program to 9 6 0 0 B p s, 8-Bit Data bit, no parity checksum and 1-bit stop bit.
