In this Photoshop tutorial, you'll learn how to make a picture of the "Alice in Wonderland" theme by using smart filters and mixed materials. This tutorial will show you how to mix materials, create light effects, change the atmosphere of the image, draw hair, eyes, makeup and handle the skin, and how to add depth of the scene manually.
This tutorial is written by Monika Nowakowska, an artist from Poland, dedicated to PSD Valut.
The following is a preview of the final effect of this tutorial:
All right, let's get started:
To complete this tutorial, you need the following material:
Sky
Model
Garden
Tree
Watch
Light effect Texture
Flowers
Rabbit
Material download micro-disk packaging
First step
Let's get started. Create a new file (File > New ...) or CTRL + N), use 900x1341.
Second Step
Place the garden footage at the bottom of the document.
Third Step
Select Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur in top menu ... Set it to 2,2px.
Fourth Step
Place the "Cloud 1 of the day" footage at the top of the image. Change the blending mode to multiply.
5th step
Now add a mask for this layer, select Layer > Layer Mask > Show all in the top menu, or click the shortcut.
6th step
You need to erase the bottom of the "sky" layer. You can use a softer brush with a little bigger.
7th step
Now add the Adjust natural saturation layer (Layer > New Adjustment layer > Natural saturation, or use shortcut keys). Set as shown in the figure:
8th Step
The image is a bit too dim, so adjust the layer using brightness and contrast. Repeat the previous step (Layer > New adjustment layer > Brightness/saturation), set as follows:
9th step
Next, add a color/Balance layer. This makes the image appear to have a spring-filled atmosphere.
10th Step
Now you can put the "flowers" material. Place it at the bottom of the image. Don't worry about the blank space, you'll get it right away:.
11th Step
Add brightness and contrast adjustment layers (layers > New adjustment layers > Brightness and contrast) and then create a clipping mask (layer > Create a clipping mask).
12th Step
Now add natural saturation (Layer > New Adjustment layer > Natural saturation) and then create a clipping mask (layer > Create a clipping mask). Follow the figure set:
13th step
The background will be complete soon! Select Layers > Create new adjustment layer > Brightness/contrast and set:
14th Step
Now you want to add the light effect resource. Create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N, or layer > New > Layer). Select the Brush tool (B), set it larger (I am using 765px), soft, color-#f6a313 brush, and then draw a point in the upper part of the image.
15th step
On the same layer, use a small point (245px), the same soft and color for the #fff200 brush, in the original point of a bit closer to the place to draw a point. If you think this is too small, you can also copy the layer.
16th step
Now change the layer blending mode to filter and set the opacity to 58%.
17th Step
Model Time! Place the footage at the bottom of the image.
18th Step
Show all or use shortcuts through layers > Layer masks, add a layer mask to the layer, and then erase the background.
19th Step
As you can see, I kept a little strange green box. Now you're going to fix it. Create a new layer, and then create a clipping mask. Then use the Clone Stamp tool (S). Use a large, soft round brush and set the sample point below the current one.
20th Step
You can repair her by holding down the alt copy of the skin on the arm, as shown in the picture. Then click where you want the skin to be repaired, just like using the brush tool.
