Design websites and create and learn web pages based on commercial interests

When a person is diagnosed with cancer, he himself and his family will be shocked and desperate for the news. They need to get the truth as quickly as possible, especially the details about the cancer condition, including diagnosis, treatment, clinical research, and so on. They can understand information through the Internet, but the network with high hopes is also frustrated like a disease, and cannot provide people with the appropriate help.

An official website, CancerNet, is a branch online site of the National Cancer Association. It is often the preferred site for cancer patients, family members of patients, and health care practitioners. Although this website does not sell any medicines, it knows the concept of user services very well. In fact, CancerNet is a website designed to help people obtain valuable information. In this regard, it has more value than many other websites that sell medicines or provide services for business. It has become an object for other websites to follow. It shows its peers how to meet user needs and how to operate a website better.

"Whether a user is looking for information about a cancer investigation or wants to buy a cdnserver, you will succeed as long as you grasp the user's internal needs to run your website, said Eric Schaffer, president of Human Factors International. Designing a website depends on how users use it. It sounds like the most common strategy, but the performance created by it will be unusual, this is not only true for government departments, but also for a website.

More than a year ago, CancerNet, a subsidiary of the National Health Association of the federal government department, realized from its negative feedback that it had not well met user needs. One doctor keeps searching for information about a boy's illness on the website, but he cannot find it anyway. This time, they touched the CancerNet leadership and decided to continue to improve the website services. Smooth communication is the main goal. The head of the website design group said, "Our problem is not lack of information, but that users do not know where the information they need can be found ". This means that the design will be re-built and the effort will be made as the user wishes. The redesigned CancerNet is refreshing, but users are obviously not fully adapted to this new design. It may take time.

For example, CancerNet used to have a topic named Glossary, which was not noticed by people. Although it does not change much after the revision, its name has changed and the content is more like a dictionary.

Other subtle changes can also be explored on the surface. CancerNet found that cancer patients are not satisfied when treated as patients, and sometimes end their contact with the outside world by leaving the website. Because they think that the way to obtain information from the internet is more convenient and free, and no one else looks at you differently. In fact, this feeling is wrong. The website also understands patient information like common doctors to provide them with more valuable information.

Perhaps the biggest bad thing for a website is to impose its organizational structure on a public webpage. Web page information makes people unable to see clearly, reflecting the structure disorder. For example, there is a topic on the original website called "Understanding Cancer", and the other is "what do you need to know about cancer ". The current web page combines the original two into one and is named "dealing with cancer ". The old website is also puzzled by the 'free' of current public Publications.

Perfect Design = outstanding return

The surprising thing for research institutions is that the practical design of websites not only increases the number of visitors, but also reduces costs. Dr. Randolph Bias of Austin Usability said that funds will be fully and effectively utilized throughout the design process of the website, rather than showing economic benefits only after the design is complete. Although he did not disclose the specific amount of funds currently used for website design, it is certain that everything is under the budget. A large amount of manpower and financial resources are saved. More importantly, more than 130 websites have begun to pay attention to the practicality of the website.

Close to user needs

Although no one thinks that the quality of work should be improved for users, it does not seem easy to do this. Let's focus on a group of data. According to a recent Forrester survey of 150 websites, only 45% of these websites provide users with some or more information about their products. According to a survey conducted by the consulting firm User Interface Engineering on online stores, users who shop online on well-known websites can receive monetary rewards, even so, 65% of buyers end up shopping failures. According to a joint investigation by Jakob Nielsen of the Nielsen Norman Group and Mark URST of Creative Good found, 42% of the online businesses of the six major companies in the industry cannot be completely completed, including Cisco Systems, Citi Bank, and Proctor & Gamble.

"My research on this issue has been around for four and a half years, so I come to the conclusion that practicality is always the key to the problem. People can't help asking why websites are still so obscure for people since the Internet has been in people's lives for six years. I learned from my conversations with some senior website designers that many of the reasons are due to the fact that the current usability is not satisfactory to others.

First of all, in the past five years, the collective wisdom has dominated the process. It is the most basic goal for people to rush to the website and Internet fields to quickly establish a website. If Flash is used to increase the atmosphere for the website, it is already rare. Quality, ease of use, and other issues are all left behind. Later, many companies were tempted by constantly improving technologies and began to use the latest and best technical tools on their websites to win users and praise.

However, as the saying goes, "be sincere and be spiritual", they still need to work hard to succeed.
