It is useful to know about the settings of the Alpha router. Especially for general users, it will be more convenient and convenient to use in the future, here we will give a comprehensive description of the main steps and rules for configuring the Alpha router.
Section 1 TCP/IP configuration of Alpha router settings
1. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Network icon and select the configuration page in the network window.
3. Click Add to add a network unit to your PC.
4. Double-click the Protocol to add the TCP/IP protocol.
5. Select a Microsoft Project from the list and select TCP/IP in the network protocol. Click OK to return to the network window.
6. the TCP/IP protocol is listed in the network window. Click OK to complete the installation and restart the machine to activate the TCP/IP protocol.
Set TCP/IP protocol for Alpha Router
1. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. Click the Network icon and select the TCP/IP line associated with your Nic on the configuration page of the network window.
3. Click properties to set the TCP/IP protocol for the Alpha router.
4. Now, you have two methods:
Method 1: Obtain the IP address through the DHCP service:
A. On the IP address page of the TCP/IP attribute, select "automatically get IP Address.
B. do not set any values on the gateway page.
C. Select disable DNS on the DNS configuration page:
Method 2: manually configure the IP Address:
A. Select the specified IP address on the IP address page. The default IP address of this product is 192.168.18.1. Therefore, use 192.168.18.xxx in the IP address field (the number of xxx is 2-253) and 255.255.255.0 In the subnet mask field.
B. On the gateway page, type the IP address of the product in the new Gateway field (the default IP address is 192.168.18.1), and click Add.
C. On the DNS configuration page, select Enable DNS, add the DNS provided by the ISP to the DNS server search sequence, and click Add. Taking Chaozhou as an example, the primary DNS is: 202.96.128.166, And the backup DNS is 202.96.128.68. Please consult your local ISP supplier for your DNS. So far, TCP/IP settings are complete.
Note: This step is most easily ignored by users. The IP address is the basis for TCP/IP protocol communication. If the correct IP address is not available, the following steps cannot be performed. Because the factory IP address of the Broadband Router is 192.168.18.1, and its built-in DHCP (Dynamic IP allocation) server has the scope of 192.168.18.100-192.168.18.150, therefore, the IP address of the first workstation to which you apply for a bandwidth router is 192.168.18.100, And the IP address of the second workstation is 192.168.18.101. If your workstation cannot be rented to 192.168.18.x (x: 100 ~ 150), please check whether your network adapter, network cable, TCP/IP protocol is correct. Note that there is a drop-down list above this window. If you have several NICs or Microsoft "dial-up network adapters" installed ", be sure to select the network card connected to the Broadband Router. Do not select another Nic or "PPP Adapter ". If you have other DHCP servers installed on your network (for example, Windows NT has DHCP servers installed), disable the server before performing step 2.
Alpha router configuration section 2: quick installation
To use this installation method, you must have installed a browser on your workstation and have an ISP account or a fixed valid IP address. If you do not have any of them, you cannot use this installation method. The following describes how to access and set up a Broadband Router through a browser. Because the current browser software is similar, the following uses Microsoft Internet Explorer as an example. Customers who use other browsers can follow the instructions. Follow these steps to go to the browser and configure the Alpha router.
Step 1:
Open your browser, select "Tools"-> "Internet Options", open the "Internet Options" window, and click "Connect". Select "Never dial-up connections ", confirm that "Automatic Detection Settings", "use automatic configuration script", and "use proxy server" in the "LAN Settings" window are not selected (I .e. none .).
Step 2:
Open your browser, enter http: // 192.168.18.1 in the address bar, and press Enter. The computer will ask you to enter the user name and password. If this is your first use, you can enter the pre-set Username: admin Password: admin.
Step 3:
After you type the default user name and password, the Alpha router settings page appears. Select "quick installation" from the menu on the left of the page. The quick installation page appears in the right window. Host Name: this parameter is used by the router to connect to the ISP. But most ISPs do not. If necessary, you must query with ISP. Domain Name: This is used by the router to connect to the ISP. But most ISPs do not. If necessary, you must query with ISP. Lan ip Address: factory settings: "192.168.18.1 ". If an IP address is already set in your Lan, you can change it to suit your network segment as needed. If there is no special need, the default values 192.168.18.1 and 255.255.255.0 can be used. Subnet Mask: the factory is set to "255.255.255.0". You can change it to suit your network segment as needed. Internet access: There are three options, you can choose according to your own situation. When you select different ways to access the Internet, there are different parameters below, you need to fill in.
1. "Automatically Obtaining IP addresses from ISP" means that the router obtains valid IP addresses from ISP. The WAN end (ISP) must have a DHCP server. Some man or optical fiber access users or cable modem users use this method. You do not need to enter other parameters.
2. "fixed IP address access method", which is to specify the valid IP address of the WAN end of the router and the default gateway address of the WAN end. Some man or optical fiber access users or cable modem users use this method. The user must know and fill in the WAN end address, subnet mask, WAN end Default Gateway and DNS Server IP Address Provided by the ISP. If it is incorrect, you cannot access the Internet.
3. "virtual dial-up (PPPoE)". Currently, most ADSL users use the "virtual dial-up Internet" (PPPOE) method. You must enter the user name and password correctly. This is provided by the ISP when you apply for an ADSL user.
This interface varies with the vro series. You must first set the Alpha router according to your service type, the general service types include "fixed IP Access" and "virtual dial-up access". "fixed IP Access" is used by all Cable Modem and some ADSL users. In this way, the "Automatic Allocation" and "specified IP Address" modes are adopted by the ISP's DHCP server. In general, enter the following content: "vro lan ip Address" and "subnet mask ". The factory settings of the Broadband Router are as follows: "192.168.18.1" and "255.255.255.0 ". If an IP address is already set in your Lan, you can change it to suit your network segment as needed. If there is no special need, the default values 192.168.18.1 and 255.255.255.0 can be used. Note: 192.168.xxx.xxx is an address range for virtual networks. hosts with this IP address segment will not appear on the Internet. Therefore, it is recommended that the IP address of the workstation in your LAN be defined in this range.
