1 Introduction

2 fireproof cable type

Fire-proof cables widely used at present mainly include ul series flame-retardant cables and flame-retardant low smoke halogen-free cables. The imported products mainly come from America and Europe. Because the fire-proof Cable standards in America and Europe are incompatible, the fire-proof ideas are quite different. Therefore, party A and the Design Institute are passive in product selection, and each has its own principles. Finally, they are often chosen based on the actual situation of funds.

UL flame retardant standards mainly include CMP, CMR, CM, CMG, CMX.

1) supercharged-CMP level (air supply and combustion test/SteinerTunnelTest)

This is the most demanding cable (PlenumCable) in UL fire prevention standards. The applicable safety standard is UL910. The experiment stipulates that multiple samples are laid on the horizontal air duct of the device, combustion with 300,000 KW gas lamp (BTU/Hr) for 20 minutes. The standard of conformity is that the flame cannot be extended beyond 5 feet from the front end of the flame of the current gas lamp. The peak value of the optical density is 0.5, and the average density is 0.15.

This CMP cable is usually installed in Air Reflux pressurization systems used by ventilation pipes or air processing equipment and is accepted by Canada and the United States. The flame retardant properties of the UL910 standard FEP/PLENUM material is better than that of the low smoke halogen-free materials that meet the IEC60332-1 and IEC60332-3 standards, and the smoke concentration is low.

2) trunk line level-CMR level (vertical combustion test RiserFlameTest)

This is UL Standard medium-to-commercial cable (RiserCable), applicable to the safety standard UL1666. The experiment requires that multiple samples should be laid on the simulated vertical shaft, and the specified 154.5KW current lamp (527,500 BTU/Hr) should be used for 30 minutes. The pass criteria are that the flame cannot spread to the upper part of the room 12 feet high. Trunk cable has no smoke concentration specification and is generally used for vertical and horizontal floor cabling.

3) Commercial-CM (vertical combustion test VertialTrayFlameTest)

This is UL Standard medium commercial grade cable (GeneralPurposeCable), applicable to the safety standard UL1581. The experiment requires that multiple samples should be laid on a vertical bracket with a height of 8 feet, And a 20KW band jet lamp should be used for combustion (70,000 BTU/Hr) for 20 minutes. The standard of conformity is that the flame cannot spread to the upper end of the cable and extinguish it on its own. The UL1581 is similar to the IEC60332-3C, but the number of cables laid is different. Commercial cables do not have smoke concentration specifications. Generally, they are used only for horizontal cabling on the same floor and should not be used for vertical cabling on the floor.

4) General level-CMG level (vertical combustion test VertialTrayFlameTest)

This is UL Standard Generic cable (GeneralPurposeCable), applicable to the security standard UL1581. The commercial and General-level test conditions are similar and are also accepted by Canada and the United States. General-purpose cables do not have smoke concentration specifications. They are generally used only for horizontal cabling on the same floor and should not be used for vertical cabling on the floor.

5) Household-CMX (vertical combustion test VertialWireFlameTest)

This is UL Standard medium grade cable (RestrictedCable), applicable safety standard for UL1581, VW-1. The experiment requires that the sample should be kept vertical. The test uses a jet lamp for combustion (30,000 TU/Hr) for 15 seconds, then stops for 15 seconds, and repeats for 5 times. The standard of conformity is that the residual flame cannot exceed 60 seconds, the sample cannot burn more than 25%, and the surgical cotton pad at the bottom cannot be ignited by falling articles. UL1581-VW-1 is similar to IEC60332-1, but the time of burning is different. This level does not have smoke or toxicity specifications and is only used in household or small office systems where a single cable is laid. Such cables should not be bundled for use, and must be cabled.

Non-smoke halogen-free cable (LSOH)

Non-smoke halogen-free cables, as the name suggests, are cables with less smoke and no halogen in case of fire. The principle of smoke-free and halogen-free is to prevent many gas and smoke from burning cables in the flame, so that people will not cause large casualties during burning, this greatly improves the survival rate of people in the fire.
