Enterprise LAN Local Router configuration

1, statically configured

This approach is to manually configure the TCP/IP network component gateway parameters by using the Windows 2000 system's Network Properties Settings window to complete the local default routing configuration task. This approach is commonly used for workstations using static IP addresses in the local area network. When you complete a local routing configuration task by using the static method, you can follow these steps:

Click the start/Settings/Control Panel command, and in the Control panel window that pops up, double-click the Network and Dial-up connections icon to open the Network Connections List window; Right-click the Local Area Connection icon and perform the Properties command from the pop-up right-click menu to open the Network Connection Properties Settings window;

Click the General tab in the window, and then, in the corresponding label page, select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item, click the Properties button, open the TCP/IP property Settings window, and then click the Advanced button in the window. And in the Advanced property settings interface that appears later, click the IP Settings tab;

Then click the Add button in the default gateway setting item on the corresponding label page, and in the settings box shown in Figure 1, enter the IP address and metric of the local router correctly, and the local router's hop count is 1 by default.

to correctly enter the above parameters, and then click the "Add" button, you can complete the configuration task of the default gateway. Of course, if there are other routers on the local area network, you can click the "Add" button, add the IP address of the other routers, and then click the "OK" button to end the configuration task of the local route after the IP address of all routers has been added.

2, dynamic configuration

If the LAN is a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to each workstation, then any workstation connected to the LAN will automatically send requests for IP addresses to the entire local area network. Once the DHCP server in the LAN receives this request, it automatically assigns a temporary IP address and corresponding netmask address to the current workstation, and the workstation automatically sets the default gateway address and metric. Local routing parameters are set up by the DHCP server in relation to workstations on the local area network, so this configuration is done automatically during dynamic logon.

You need to be reminded that the dynamic configuration of local route information priority is not a static way to get the local routing information excellentThe first level is high; in other words, if there are multiple routing configurations in the same LAN, the statically configured routing information takes precedence, and the local routing information configured in a dynamic manner takes effect later.

3, complete the configuration by broadcasting

you know, in workstations that have Windows 2000 systems installed, there is a special ICMP Route discovery feature that can replace a gateway parameter that is configured dynamically or statically. And by automatically listening to the ICMP router broadcast information mode, to find out the current workstation can use the most appropriate gateway parameters. Of course, in order to successfully configure the workstation's gateway parameters in broadcast mode, the routers in the LAN must be required to start the ICMP Route discovery function; To do this, you can set the following steps:
