With the increasing of LAN client, the original DHCP server can not meet the needs of LAN. Replacing a new DHCP server is a good solution, but a new DHCP server needs to be reconfigured for a lot of work. In response to this situation, chubby intends to migrate the original DHCP server database to a new DHCP server, which reduces the effort to configure the new DHCP server without reconfiguring the IP address segments and some special DHCP settings.

The method for database migration between DHCP servers on different Windows Server platforms varies. There is a DHCP server database migration method based on Windows Server 2003 (Windows 2003), as well as a DHCP server database migration method based on Windows? server and Windows 2003. Now, let's take a look at how little fat uses these methods.

1.Windows 2003 Transplant

If you want to migrate a database from a DHCP server on a Windows 2003 system to a DHCP server on another Windows 2003 system, you can easily do so by using the Netsh command.

The first step: at the original DHCP server, go to the Command Prompt window, run the Netsh dhcp server export c:\dhcp.txt All command, and back up the database in the DHCP server to the "dhcp.txt" file in C disk.

Step two: Copy the "Dhcp.txt" backup file to the new DHCP server's C-packing directory, and run the Netsh dhcp server import c:\dhcp.txt All command in the Command Prompt window to complete the migration of the DHCP servers database.

Porting between 2.Windows server and Windows 2003

A DHCP server database migration between Windows Server and Windows 2003 must be "Dhcpexim.exe" by means of a tool (download address: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/ techinfo/reskit/tools/new/dhcpexim-o.asp) to complete.

Step two: Compress the DHCP database. Run the CD%SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\DHCP command in Windows Server's command Prompt window, go to the directory where the DHCP database resides, and then run the jetpack dhcp.mdb temp.mdb command , complete the compression of "Dhcp.mdb".

Step three: Export the DHCP database. Run "Dhcpexim.exe", select "Export Configuration ..."
