Hardware faults

Most of ADSL's common hardware faults are related to loose interface connections, telephone line faults, and computer system faults. When using ADSL to access the Internet, first check whether the connection of the line is correct and whether the interface connection is loose, the hardware required for ADSL Internet access includes a computer, adsl modem, a separator, a nic, and an ADSL telephone line. The correct connection method is to connect the telephone line to the separator, connect the Phone to the Phone interface of the separator, and connect the ADSL Modem to the Modem interface. ① Can access the Internet, but the phone is offline

This situation is mostly caused by the disconnection of the terminal board line during the handover. Because the disconnection head is very close to the terminal board, the data can be sensed, but the voice cannot pass. If the user is very close to the local terminal, the indoor cabling may also cause the above faults.

② Balance in Internet access and calls

This is caused by poor external insulation or poor contact with connectors. The user's external line is poorly insulated. When the user accesses the Internet, the alarm light on the phone handle will flash, the WAN light will go off, and the fault will be lifted after the external line is repaired.

③ Allow communication, but the Internet is offline

Generally, when a user connects a Modem to a telephone, the user may be able to use the telephone instead of accessing the Internet. At this time, the LINE light of the ADSL Modem is not on. Check the wiring position of the device carefully before troubleshooting.

Note the following:

The installation location of the ADSL Modem should be as far as possible away from high-power electronic devices, and the telephone extension or fax machine cannot be installed between the ADSL entry line and the separator. If data is often lost or the network speed is slow. Check whether the line connection is good, and change the line with poor quality in time.

2. Telephone Line faults

Because ADSL technology uses telephone lines as the data transmission medium, the band used by ADSL is separated from the band used by the telephone network through the frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology, therefore, the speed of ADSL depends on the distance between the telecom Bureau. Simply put, the longer the telephone line, the weaker the ADSL signal passing through the telephone line, and the slower the communication speed.

In addition, the aging degree and quality of telephone lines also affect the quality of network communication, leading to frequent online disconnection.

Users can listen to dial-up audio to check whether the telephone line quality is good or bad. If there is a lot of noise in the dial-up audio, it means that the telephone line quality is poor or it is subject to electromagnetic interference, otherwise, the telephone line is of good quality.

Although we cannot change the distance with the Telecommunications Bureau, the problem of electromagnetic interference on the telephone line can still be mitigated. First, we should try to shorten the telephone line between the telephone outlet and the ADSL Modem, do not place household appliances such as mobile phones, TVs, and refrigerators near the ADSL Modem. replace poor quality telephone lines and network cables with cables that can shield electromagnetic waves.

3. Nic faults

Nic is also an important factor affecting network communication. In general, Nic failures often occur in the following situations: the computer cannot dial immediately after it is started, the network cannot be connected once it is disconnected, and data cannot be transmitted normally when the Internet is connected.

If the user finds that the status light DSL of the ADSL Modem is always on and the line fault is basically ruled out, most of the problems are on the NIC.

We can use the PING command to check whether the network card and ADSL Modem can be pinged. If we can PING the network card but cannot PING the ADSL Modem, the quality of the network card is unstable, change the NIC in time. We recommend that you select good quality, strong stability, complete drivers, and good after-sales service when purchasing a nic.

4. Computer OS faults

Some operating systems have poor compatibility and may conflict with related components of ADSL, resulting in an inexplicable disconnection problem during network connection. This situation is common in Win9x systems, it is caused by "inherent" Network Defects of the Win9x system.

If you are using a Win2000 or WinXP operating system, the disconnection can be avoided, because these systems not only have comprehensive network functions, the compatibility with network components related to ADSL is also good.

Users who use the Win9x system should promptly go to Microsoft's official website to install system patches. After the patches are prepared, the frequent interruption of ADSL can be immediately restrained.

5. Environmental Factors

Environmental factors have a great impact on the service life of the ADSL Modem. How should we perform maintenance?

Avoid using ADSL Modem in hot weather for a long time to prevent faults and burning of ADSL Modem due to overheating.
