Today, when I updated the svn library of equalizer, I saw the release notes about version 0.4 under the doc directory. As a preview version of Beta, it is getting closer and closer.
As an extensible OpenGL application framework for development and deployment, applications developed based on Equalizer ProgramIt can run on various platforms without any modification, from single GPU to SLI systems, from single-host systems to high-speed network-based computer cluster systems, it also supports immersive sensing in the field of virtual reality, including cave and stereoscopic vision.
From version 0.3 to version 0.4, the program framework has not changed much. The author is more concerned about how CommunityPromote the equalizer application and continue to expand the equalizer application platform. Therefore, we can see that the features added in version 0.4 include:
- Added the Development Guide, programming guide.pdf, which can be downloaded from the website but has not yet been completed;
- Improves the performance of the eqply polygon rendering example, replaces the display list with VBO, manages data using KD-tree, and improves the cutting efficiency.
- Added the body rendering example evolve;
- Supports body rendering applications
- Supports synchronization between nodes
- Cygwin provides support for Windows XP.
- Supports InfiniBand networks in Linux
- Improve event handling;
- Supports AGL on Mac OS x and carbon, and supports Mac OS 10.5 leopard (not familiar with this)
It seems that, as eile (the main developer of equalizer) said, version 0.4 will be provided to developers and early surveyors as a preview version, hoping that the rich application support provided by the community will follow, and a variety of interesting transplantation. Of course, these are still a little far away, and they can only be quietly expected.
