Google follows up with eBay and plans to launch classified advertising

Internet companies realize that advertising classification is the only way to expand the number of users and make profits. EBay has done so, and according to internal news, Google plans to launch its classified advertising business next month.
According to Classifieds Intelligence, an interactive advisory and research institute, online and print classification businesses have a global market scale of $100 billion. In this market, large search and e-commerce giants can easily get involved. Jim Townsend, editor of the organization, said: "All of the above companies are trying to provide a new opportunity for those who have never been advertised, you may say, 'These services are free. 'however, most classified advertisements are sold to advertisers."
For Google, classified advertising is a natural improvement. Google has turned a single online advertisement into an integrated marketing campaign for small and medium-sized enterprises. No matter what a classified advertisement is, this is undoubtedly a revenue for Google. Google has not commented on this plan.
At present, many newspapers have provided some forms of online free classified ads to attract more customers. In the past, customers believed that newspaper classified advertisements were too expensive. Many internet companies, due to the slowdown in revenue growth, regard classified advertising as a good opportunity to increase revenue. For example, eBay's growth has slowed down over the past few years and regards classified advertising as a new source of revenue.
Last week, eBay acquired Shopping.com for $0.62 billion, a major move to the classified advertising market. As early as 2004, the company acquired mongo.com for $0.415 billion, and made a profit of about 25% of Craiglist.org, a classified website, to get involved in the classified advertising business.
At the same time, eBay acquired Marketplaats. nl in the Netherlands and Mobile.de in Germany at $0.29 billion and $0.149 billion respectively. In March this year, the company launched the kijijiji.com website, which aggregates classified ads of websites in about 90 cities in the United States. Craiglist.org has the same idea, but it began to expand its classified advertising business overseas. Last year, Kijiji.com acquired Gumtree.com and Loquo.com to further expand its business market.
When announcing the acquisition of Shopping.com, the electronics giant said the move aims to further expand the number of users. According to statistics from comScore Media Metrix, Shopping.com had April this year unique users in 22.6 million. This is only a small part of the comparison with eBay's 63.8 million users. However, the former user increased by 15% compared with last year, while the eBay user increased by only 6%.
In contrast, Craigslist websites focus on communities. As of April this year, Craigslist had a classified advertising business in approximately 120 cities in 25 countries around the world, an increase of about 31.5% compared with last year. Craigslist is growing at this rate, mainly thanks to its free classified advertising model. Craigslist charges $75 and $25 for classified ads only in the San Francisco waterfront area, on-premise machines, and New York City. Last year, Craigslist's job classification ads grew, while the market share of newspaper classification in the San Francisco waterfront region began to drop.
Unlike Craigslist, eBay has not yet established its own classified advertising business. In 2004, eBay purchased $34.2 billion million online purchases. In the last quarter, the net turnover reached $1 billion, and revenue from advertising and other non-online purchase transactions, including revenue from classified advertising, accounted for about $28.7 million.
Yahoo! has launched a classified advertising business and has made a huge profit in advertising revenue. Yahoo's advertising revenue for the last quarter was $1.02 billion. Yahoo is also preparing to enter other online classified ad markets.
