First step: Encrypt the wireless network

Because the ieee802.11n standard does not support a high throughput rate for a WEP encryption (or TKIP encryption algorithm) unicast password, the wireless transmission rate will automatically drop to 11g if the user chooses either WEP encryption or the TKIP algorithm for WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption ( Theoretical value of 54Mbps, the actual test results of about 20Mbps).

Now users are basically using 11n Wireless products (150M or 300M), then the wireless encryption mode can only choose WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK AES algorithm encryption, or wireless transmission rate will be automatically reduced. And if the user is using 11g products, then three encryption methods can be very good compatibility, but we do not recommend the choice of WEP this older and more easily cracked encryption.

Second trick: Modify the default username and password

Some users may not set the wireless encryption, we need to modify the wireless router default login username and password. Why would you do that? The reason is simple, because the same model or even the same manufacturer's wireless router at the factory set the default user name and password is almost the same. As a result, an experienced user can easily access a line-free web configuration interface to control your wireless network with just a few tries. Therefore, modifying the default username and password is also necessary to protect wireless network security.

The third trick: Turn off or modify the SSID name

The SSID is the name of the wireless network that appears when you search for a wireless network. For enterprise users, the name is designed to make it easier for employees to find and connect to their own enterprise's wireless network, but for individual home users, exposing the SSID only attracts illegal intruders. Therefore, turning off SSID broadcasts is also a good way to improve the security of your wireless network.

Of course, you can also modify the SSID name, such as continue to use the default "D-link", "Tp-link", "Totolink" and other SSID names can easily be guessed by others.

DHCP is a feature that automatically assigns IP addresses to users who connect to a wireless network, eliminating the hassle of manually setting IP addresses for users.

Once the DHCP feature is turned off, the illegal user who wants to connect to your wireless network cannot automatically assign to the IP address, then he has to manually enter the IP address, and in order not to allow illegal users to easily guess without the line by the IP address segment, we must also modify the default IP address without lines. At this point, illegal users want to connect to the network must try each IP address segment, very troublesome. So we recommend that you turn off the DHCP feature and modify the default IP address.
