Installing the CentOS 6.6 operating system

Before the operating system is formally installed in a production environment, we need to confirm the following two issues in order to successfully install the system:

(1) The Server optical drive and the system installation CD can be used (requires ISO files to be burned to CD-ROM)

(2) Confirm that all the hardware of the server can be supported by CentOS 6.6 system.

1 Create a virtual machine

Creating a virtual machine is equivalent to purchasing a server in an actual production environment or renting a server in an IDC room.

1.1 , click "File" in VMware Workstation, select "New Virtual Machine" or "home" to select Create a new virtual machine.

1.2 , select Custom (Advanced) (C)

Tip: The reason to choose custom is that you can install the actual hardware device (e.g. CPU, disk type, memory size, network card, etc.) as required, and the following customizations are also implemented to meet the actual requirements.

1.3 , click "Next"

1.4 , default, click "Next"

1.5 , select "Install operating system later" and click "Next"

1.6 , guest operating system select "Linux (L)", Version (V) Select "Other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit", click "Next"

Knowledge Point: Select "Other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit" instead of "CentOS 64-bit" to make the server's hardware more explicit to support the kernel of the CentOS6.6 system. In other words, we purchase a server that supports the CentOS 6.6 kernel exactly. If you select "CentOS 64-bit", we purchased a centos system that supports 64bit, but it is not possible to determine whether the CentOS 6.6 kernel system can be supported.

1.7 , name the virtual machine, and select the location of the file, click Next

1.8 , default, click "Next"

1.9 , Memory Selection 1G, click "Next"

Knowledge Point: When installing CentOS 6.x, the memory is as large as possible and the small words may not be installed.

Recommendation: Create a virtual machine, memory at least 512M, preferably at least 1G, after the installation of the virtual machines at least 512M, or may error.

1.10 , network type Default, which is select Use network address translation (NAT) (E)

Knowledge Points: Three types of network for VMware workstation

Bridging: Virtual machines, like host hosts, are routed directly through the Sisu network, directly from the actual LAN to the external network. So bridging mode is the most consistent production environment. (suitable for Office environment)

NAT : The virtual machine obtains an IP address directly, and the host routes the virtual machine's packets. (suitable for home environments without routers, office environment can also be used)

host-only : Virtual machines can only communicate with host hosts.

1.11 , "I/O controller type" default

1.12 , "Virtual disk type" default

1.13 , "Disk" default

1.14 , disk size allocated at least 8G

Knowledge Points: Allocate all disk space immediately: Allocate 8G of space to the virtual disk immediately, we recommend not to choose.

1.15 , the name of the disk file, by default

1.16 , click Finish, we will buy a new server or rent a server in IDC room

2 , installing the CentOS6.6 system

2.1 , click Edit Virtual machine settings

2.2 , select "CD/DVD (IDE)" To load the image you need to install and tick "connect at startup" and click "OK"

2.3 , click to open this virtual machine, select the first one to install

Knowledge Point: CentOS has graphical interface installation and text installation, but starting with CentOS 6.6, the text installation is no longer partitioned, only the graphical interface is installed to partition

2.4 , select "Skip"

2.5 , select "Next"

2.6 , language default selection "中文版", click "Next"

2.7 , keyboard type Select "U.s.english", click "Next"

2.8 , the default remains "Basic Storage Devices" click "Next"

2.9 , select "Yes,discard anydata" and click "Next"

2.10 , modify the hostname, first do not configure the network, click "Next"

2.11 , time zone Select "Asia/shanghai", click "Next"

2.12 , set the root user password, click "Next"

2.13 , select "Create Custom Layout" and click "Next"

2.14 , create partition:/boot, swap,/(necessary partition for Linux)

Click Create, by default select "click Create." Allocate 100M disk space to/boot to SWAP1G's

Disk space, all remaining space allocated to/, after the partition, click "Next"

2.15 , click "Format"

2.16 , click "Write changes to Disk"

2.17 , System boot selection default

2.18 , install package Select "MInimal" and Tick "Customizenow", click "Next"

2.19 , customize the installation package selection, click "Next" after selecting

2.20 , waiting for installation

2.21 after installation, click "Reboot" and the system will be installed after reboot.

3 , post-installation configuration

3.1 , login system after reboot

3.2 , because the network is configured when the system is installed, the NIC eth0 is not enabled, only the LO interface, you can use the Ifup command

Activating the eth0 NIC

3.3 , using VI to eth0 configuration called with the system boot activation, so after the system restarts, the ETH0 network card will be automatically enabled

Change Onboot=no to Onboot=yes
