Let's start by recalling that the seven principles of PRINCE2 are continuous business validation, experiential learning, roles and responsibilities, phased management, exception management, product focus, tailoring.
The fourth principle: management by stages.
The stage management is actually to provide the high level the corresponding control point in the project life cycle. At the end of each phase, the project status should be evaluated, the business justification and the plan reviewed to ensure that the project remains valid and that decisions continue to be made. The short-term division, can strengthen the control, a longer period of division, can reduce the burden of the high. We all know a detailed plan that clearly defines the next 12 months, and it is often inaccurate to do so. Therefore, it is a more effective way to compile a detailed short-term team plan and a long plan with a summary.
In PRINCE2, 1 divided the project into a number of management phases,
2 developed a high-level plan and detailed current phase plan
3 planning authorization, monitoring and control of projects on a phased basis
