Configure a synchronous connection for the User Profile Service
After the User Profile Service Application is created, the next step is to synchronize the user in the Active Directory. Of course, in addition to AD, it also supports other types of data sources, such as databases or BCS. Here we will only introduce AD.
Go to the User Profile Service Application management page and click Configure Synchronization Connections:
On the open page, click Create New Connection:
On the create Connection page, enter the domain name and have the permission (Replica Directory Changes) to access the account of the domain. Then, click the Populate button to display the organizational structure in the domain, select an Organization that is synchronized to SharePoint.
Click OK to return to the User Profile Service Application management page. Click Start ProfileSynchronization to Start synchronization. After synchronization, the number of User profiles is displayed in the upper right corner:
This indicates that the synchronization is successful.
Click Manage User Profiles to view the synchronized User Profile:
