Researchers at the University of Bristol have successfully freed Microsoft's Kinect depth-of-Field Sensor from wire limitations by developing a battery-powered, use independent Wi-Fi communication units to improve the portability of Kinect. As part of this patina program, this device includes a Linux board computer gumstix to connect to the Kinect sensor and generate computation results that can be output to mobile devices.
